Raipur: In a key Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan, the Chhattisgarh government approved three major policy initiatives aimed at strengthening rural employment, boosting local economies, and promoting clean energy.
The decisions focus on rural job guarantees, market infrastructure development, and sustainable biofuel production under the state’s long-term development vision.
125-Day Guaranteed Rural Employment Under New Mission
The Cabinet approved the draft of the “Viksit Bharat – Rozgar aur Aajeevika ke Liye Guarantee Mission (Gramin): VB-G RAM JI Yojana Chhattisgarh”, aimed at enhancing rural employment and digital governance.
Key features of the scheme include:
- 125 days of guaranteed unskilled employment per year for eligible rural adults
- Focus on water conservation, rural infrastructure, and natural resource management
- Development of livelihood assets and sustainable rural jobs
- Integration with PM Gati Shakti for better planning and coordination
- Use of digital systems for transparency, monitoring, and accountability
The scheme will follow a 60:40 funding ratio between Centre and State, with a provision of ₹4,000 crore for FY 2026-27.
“Atal Aajeevika Samriddhi Haat” to Boost Rural Economy
The Cabinet also approved the launch of the Atal Aajeevika Samriddhi Haat Yojana, aimed at creating rural employment hubs and strengthening local production systems.
Under this initiative, several types of centres will be developed:
- Production centres (handloom, tailoring, handicrafts)
- Processing units (pulses, oilseeds, rice mills, dairy)
- Service centres (cold storage, solar dryers, equipment repair, digital centres)
- Marketing and supply hubs for rural products
The scheme will be implemented through the Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission, with the Panchayat and Rural Development Department as the nodal agency.
The initiative aims to improve rural income, promote local products, and create self-employment opportunities.
Approval of Chhattisgarh Compressed Bio Gas Policy 2026
The Cabinet also approved the Chhattisgarh Compressed Bio Gas (CG-CBG) Policy 2026, marking a major step toward clean energy and environmental sustainability.
The policy focuses on converting:
- Agricultural residue
- Municipal solid waste
- Livestock waste
- Other organic materials
into compressed biogas and biofertilizers.
Key highlights include:
- Promotion of waste-to-energy conversion
- Reduction in greenhouse gas emissions
- Support for rural economy and green jobs
- Target potential production of around 5 lakh tonnes of CBG annually
The Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority will serve as the state nodal agency for implementation.
Focus on Digital Governance and Transparent Implementation
The Cabinet emphasized the use of modern technology and digital systems for planning, monitoring, and execution of all development schemes.
Officials stated that these measures will ensure:
- Transparency in governance
- Improved accountability
- Efficient utilization of resources
- Better coordination between departments
The decisions taken under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai mark a significant push toward rural transformation in Chhattisgarh.
