Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced that the state government is focusing on increasing farmers’ income through multi-crop farming, natural farming, modern agricultural techniques, and advanced animal husbandry.
Addressing farmers during a divisional workshop on advanced agriculture in Gwalior, Chief Minister Yadav said that farmers’ earnings cannot increase through a single crop alone. A combination of diversified farming, dairy production, livestock management, and modern agricultural practices will help farmers achieve higher and more stable incomes.
The Chief Minister stated that Madhya Pradesh is currently the third-largest milk-producing state in India and the government aims to make the state the number one milk-producing state within the next five years.
Government Promoting Natural Farming and Dairy Development in Madhya Pradesh
CM Mohan Yadav highlighted that the state government is giving special priority to natural farming along with animal husbandry.
Under the National Dairy Development Programme, the government is providing support to organisations including:
- Gwalior Milk Union
- Sanchi Milk Production Federation
According to the Chief Minister, these initiatives are already showing positive results and will further strengthen the dairy sector in Madhya Pradesh.
During the workshop, farmers shared their experiences related to organic farming and natural agricultural practices directly with the Chief Minister.

High-Tech Nursery and Floriculture Garden to Come Up in Gwalior
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav performed the virtual foundation stone ceremony for a modern high-tech nursery and floriculture garden in Gwalior.
The first phase of the project will be developed at:
- Khureri area, Gwalior
- Village Jahangirpur
The project is being implemented under the National Agriculture Development Scheme with an estimated cost of around Rs 13 crore.
The initiative aims to promote advanced horticulture practices and provide farmers with access to improved planting material and modern techniques.
The Chief Minister also distributed benefits to farmers under various government schemes related to:
- Horticulture
- Fisheries
- Agriculture development
Madhya Pradesh Plans to Increase Irrigation Coverage to 100 Lakh Hectares
Speaking about agricultural infrastructure, CM Yadav said that irrigation facilities in Madhya Pradesh have expanded significantly over the years.
He informed that:
- In 2003, the irrigation area was only around 7.5 lakh hectares
- It has now increased to nearly 50 lakh hectares
- The government aims to expand it further to 100 lakh hectares
The Chief Minister credited major river-linking projects, including:
- Chambal-Parvati-Kali Sindh River Linking Project
- Ken-Betwa River Linking Project
for improving irrigation opportunities in the state.
He also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving these important projects.
Farmers Get More Time to Repay Agricultural Loans
During his interaction with farmers, Chief Minister Yadav said that farmers will no longer have to worry about depositing agricultural loans by March 31.
The government has provided farmers a full year’s time for loan repayment, giving them greater financial flexibility.
He added that during Kisan Kalyan Year, the government is working to promote:
- Agricultural production
- Livestock farming
- Farmer welfare schemes
- Better facilities for cultivators
Government Promoting Cow Protection and Indigenous Breed Development
CM Mohan Yadav said that cows should never be considered abandoned and that the state government is working towards better cow protection and promotion of indigenous breeds.
The government has discontinued the existing system of keeping stray cattle in urban areas and is establishing large-scale cow shelters.
The Chief Minister said that after the success of the Lal Tipara Gaushala in Gwalior, similar large cow shelters are being developed in:
- Indore
- Ujjain
- Jabalpur
- Bhopal
Efforts are also being made for the improvement of indigenous cow breeds.

Farmers Share Success Stories of Natural Farming
During the advanced agriculture workshop, several progressive farmers shared their experiences with the Chief Minister.
Natural Farming Success Story of Pran Singh Mathur
Farmer Pran Singh Mathur from Bilaua village, Gwalior district, explained his success with natural farming.
He has:
- Developed five new plant varieties
- Received scientific recognition for his innovations
- Developed patented guava varieties named “Bilaua-22” and “Bilaua-Red”
- Trained more than 50,000 farmers in natural farming methods
Brijendra Rawat Adopts Chemical-Free Farming
Farmer Brijendra Rawat from Devra village shared that he completely shifted from chemical farming to natural farming.
His wife has received five national-level awards for promoting advanced natural farming practices.
Devaraj Kushwah’s Diversified Farming Model
Farmer Devaraj Kushwah from Bhagwanpura Murar is earning income through natural farming of:
- Wheat
- Mustard
- Okra
- Chilli
- Potato
His farming model focuses on producing multiple crops using sustainable methods.
CM Inaugurates Integrated Farming and Multi-Level Agriculture Models
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated two innovative farming models at Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Agricultural University campus in Gwalior:
- Integrated Farming System Unit
- Multi-Level Farming System Unit
These models have been developed as practical demonstrations for farmers.
Integrated Farming System Helps Farmers Generate Multiple Income Sources
The integrated farming model combines various agricultural activities, including:
- Crop production
- Horticulture
- Dairy farming
- Goat farming
- Poultry farming
- Beekeeping
- Mushroom production
- Organic manure production
The model is designed so that waste from one activity becomes a resource for another activity.
This reduces production costs, improves resource utilisation, and provides farmers with multiple income sources.

Multi-Level Farming Technique to Improve Land Utilisation
The multi-level farming system promotes scientific cultivation of different crops of varying heights on the same land.
This technique helps farmers maximise the use of:
- Land resources
- Water
- Nutrients
- Sunlight
Farmers can produce different crops throughout the year from the same field, increasing overall income.
Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Arvind Kumar Shukla said these units have been developed as live training and demonstration centres where farmers can learn modern farming techniques.
CM Mohan Yadav Distributes Helmets Under Road Safety Campaign
As part of a road safety initiative, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav distributed helmets to around 50 people in Gwalior.
He appealed to citizens to:
- Wear helmets while driving
- Follow road safety rules
- Encourage others to do the same
The district administration is conducting road safety awareness campaigns across the region.
Innovative Farming Model Combines Poultry, Fish and Duck Farming
During his visit to the agricultural university campus, CM Yadav observed an integrated farming model featuring a multi-purpose pond.
When the Chief Minister dropped grains into the pond, ducks swimming nearby came towards him and ate the feed.
The pond is connected with rainwater harvesting structures from university buildings.
The model includes:
- Poultry farming above the pond
- Fish farming
- Duck farming
Chicken waste falls into the pond, where it becomes food for fish and ducks, creating a sustainable farming cycle.
CM Plants Mango Sapling Under “One Tree in Mother’s Name” Campaign
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav planted a mango sapling at the Agricultural University campus under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (One Tree in Mother’s Name) campaign.
He encouraged citizens to plant more trees and ensure their protection.
Several public representatives also participated in the plantation drive.

Through initiatives focused on natural farming, dairy expansion, irrigation development, integrated agriculture, and livestock promotion, the Madhya Pradesh government aims to create sustainable income opportunities for farmers.
The state’s long-term goal is to strengthen agriculture, improve rural livelihoods, and make Madhya Pradesh a leading state in milk production and modern farming practices.
