Tamil Nadu: Defence MSME Conclave 2026-27 was successfully held on 3 July 2026 in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, bringing together government officials, industry leaders and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The event focused on helping MSMEs become a stronger part of India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem while increasing defence exports. The conclave supports the Government of India’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and greater self-reliance in defence production.

The conclave was organised by the Department of Defence Production (DDP), Ministry of Defence, in association with EEPC India and supported by Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL).
Its main theme was: “Scaling MSMEs in Defence Indigenisation and Exports.”

The event aimed to encourage more MSMEs to participate in India’s defence manufacturing sector. The discussions focused on improving indigenous production, reducing import dependence, increasing exports, and creating a globally competitive defence ecosystem.

MSMEs play an important role in manufacturing defence components, sub-systems and engineering products. According to the Department of Defence Production, stronger MSME participation helps India build a self-reliant defence industry, creates jobs, supports innovation and strengthens the country’s supply chain for defence equipment.

The conclave also highlighted opportunities for Indian MSMEs to enter global defence markets. Government officials encouraged businesses to improve product quality, adopt advanced manufacturing technologies and meet international standards so that Indian-made defence products can compete worldwide.
