Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Advanced Technology and Economy Expo (GATE 2026), organized by the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), was inaugurated at the Exhibition Centre in Gandhinagar on April 16. The three-day event will continue till April 18 and aims to position Gujarat as a global hub for innovation, industry, and entrepreneurship.

Spread across 18,000 square meters, the expo brings together stakeholders from more than 16 industrial sectors, with a strong focus on automobiles, renewable energy, information technology, pharmaceuticals, textiles, artificial intelligence, and cyber security.

Gujarat’s Economic Contribution Highlighted at Inauguration

In his inaugural address, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel highlighted the state’s significant role in India’s economy. He stated that Gujarat contributes 8.3% to India’s GDP, 18% to industrial output, and 31% to national exports.

He emphasized that Gujarat’s development model is built on a balanced integration of trade and tradition, commerce and culture, as well as industry and entrepreneurship—aligned with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Platform for MSMEs and Young Entrepreneurs

The expo, themed “Gujarat Vision – Global Ambition,” is designed to provide MSMEs and young entrepreneurs with a platform to expand from local markets to global opportunities.

Officials expect the event to strengthen the state’s industrial ecosystem by encouraging innovation, collaboration, and investment across sectors.

Focus on Emerging Technologies and Green Growth

The state government reiterated its push toward emerging sectors such as green energy, electric vehicle manufacturing, and semiconductors.

The Chief Minister noted that Gujarat is rapidly advancing in line with the national mission of “Make in India, Made for the World,” with a strong emphasis on sustainable and technology-driven growth. Special attention at GATE 2026 has also been given to artificial intelligence and cyber security, reflecting the growing importance of advanced technologies in industrial development.

Gujarat’s Long-Term Vision: Viksit Gujarat @ 2047

Bhupendra Patel also highlighted Gujarat’s long-term development roadmap, “Viksit Gujarat @ 2047,” which focuses on the principle of “good earnings and better living.”

He said Gujarat is the first state to develop such a comprehensive roadmap aimed at contributing to the broader vision of a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047. He further added that successful initiatives like the Vibrant Gujarat Summit have helped establish the state as a “global gateway for the future.”

Industry Participation and Visitor Response

According to GCCI President Sanjeev Engineer, nearly 610 exhibitors have registered for the expo. Over 30,000 visitors have already registered, and the number is expected to rise to 50,000 by the end of the event. The participation reflects strong industry interest in Gujarat’s evolving industrial landscape and its push toward global competitiveness.

Strengthening Policy and Industry Collaboration

The Chief Minister also acknowledged the role of industry bodies like GCCI in supporting policy-making through ground-level feedback and collaboration with the government. He said such partnerships are essential for planning and executing initiatives that support sustainable industrial growth and economic development.
