Hoshiarpur: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurated development projects worth ₹150 crore in Tanda, Hoshiarpur district, marking a major push toward strengthening infrastructure, healthcare services, and rural development in the region.
The Chief Minister said the initiatives aim to upgrade basic facilities and ensure equitable development across Punjab, especially in historically underserved areas.
Major Infrastructure Push: Roads, Bridge and Water Supply Projects
A significant portion of the development package focuses on infrastructure improvements:
- ₹141.88 crore allocated for renovation and upgradation of link roads in the region
- Construction of a high-level bridge worth ₹2.39 crore to improve connectivity to Gurdwara Rampur Kheda Sahib
- ₹1.54 crore water supply project launched in Talwandi Daddian village
CM Mann said these projects will improve connectivity, reduce travel difficulties, and support economic activity in rural areas.

Expansion of Healthcare Facilities in Rural Punjab
Strengthening the healthcare system, the government announced new facilities including:
- 6 Health and Wellness Centres worth ₹3.30 crore
- An Urban Primary Health Centre in Garhdiwala worth ₹1.35 crore
- Expansion of the Aam Aadmi Clinics network across Punjab
The Chief Minister highlighted that Punjab now has:
- 990 Aam Aadmi Clinics operational
- Free medicines and diagnostic services available at these centres
- Plans to open 400 more clinics soon
He said these reforms aim to ensure accessible and affordable healthcare near every household.
Focus on Education, Jobs and Skill Development
CM Bhagwant Mann also highlighted achievements in education, stating that Punjab is witnessing major reforms:
- Punjab ranked top in National Achievement Survey 2024
- 118 Schools of Eminence being developed, 60 already operational
- Coaching support for JEE, NEET, and CLAT exams in government schools
- 24 lakh parents participated in mega Parent-Teacher Meetings
He said the state is focusing on skill-based education and equal learning opportunities for all students.
Welfare Schemes and Social Security Measures
The Chief Minister outlined several welfare initiatives including:
- Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana providing up to ₹10 lakh free treatment per family
- Over 30 lakh beneficiaries already issued health cards
- Free daytime electricity for farmers during paddy season for the first time
- Women welfare scheme providing monthly financial assistance under Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna
He said these schemes reflect the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and social security.
Strong Political Remarks Against Previous Governments
CM Mann criticized previous regimes, alleging decades of neglect in regions like the Kandi belt of Hoshiarpur. He said his government is working to correct long-standing regional imbalances through structured development.
He also targeted opposition parties, accusing them of ignoring public welfare and focusing on political gains.
Commitment to Road Safety and Public Welfare
The Chief Minister also highlighted the launch of Sadak Surakhiya Force, aimed at improving road safety and reducing accidents on highways across Punjab.
He said the government is ensuring that taxpayer money is being reinvested into public welfare projects, including roads, schools, hospitals, and infrastructure.
