Gandhinagar: Eight probationary officers of the 2025 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), recently allocated to the Gujarat cadre, met Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar on Monday for a courtesy call before beginning their field assignments across the state.
The officers have completed the Foundation Course at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration(LBSNAA), the premier training institution for India’s civil servants, and have been appointed as Additional Assistant Collectors in the Gujarat cadre. They are currently undergoing a four-week institutional training programme at Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA), which will conclude on May 26.
District Training in Nine Key Gujarat Districts
Following the completion of institutional training, the probationers will undertake 52 weeks of district training in several important districts, including:
- Banaskantha
- Bharuch
- Amreli
- Kutch
- Panchmahal
- Godhra
- Valsad
- Rajkot
- Mahisagar
During this phase, the officers will gain practical exposure to governance and administration through modules on:
- Public health and nutrition
- One District-One Product (ODOP)
- Social and financial inclusion
- Good governance
- Law and order
- Administrative and project management

CM Bhupendra Patel’s Message to Young Officers
During the interaction, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel congratulated the young officers and encouraged them to serve with dedication and integrity.
He urged them to focus on the welfare of citizens, especially economically weaker and underprivileged sections, and to use their training to deliver efficient and people-centric governance.
The probationers said their training at SPIPA had significantly contributed to shaping their administrative outlook and preparing them for field responsibilities.

Gujarat Strengthens Administrative Capacity
The induction and training of IAS probationers is a critical part of preparing future district administrators. The Gujarat cadre is known for its emphasis on innovation, digital governance, and citizen-focused administration, making district training a valuable hands-on experience for new officers.

CM Patel Highlights Role of Innovation and Design at NID Gandhinagar
In a separate event on Sunday, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the Incubation and Innovation Centre at the National Institute of Design (NID), Gandhinagar.
He said creativity, innovation, and design are essential for nations to remain competitive in the 21st century. Patel described NID as a “living symbol of India’s creativity” and credited the visionary leadership of Narendra Modi for integrating design into national initiatives such as:
- Make in India
- Aatmanirbhar Bharat
- Viksit Bharat
Calling every NID student an innovator, Patel said the institute has evolved into a global brand that blends Indian culture, traditions, and modern design thinking.
Gujarat Emerges as a Startup Powerhouse
Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to youth talent and entrepreneurship, Patel noted that Gujarat currently has nearly 16,000 active startups.
He added that the state has received the “Best Performer State” award for its strong startup ecosystem, reflecting Gujarat’s long-standing culture of innovation and enterprise.
