New Delhi: India’s biggest nuclear EPC tender is set to mark a major milestone in the country’s clean energy journey. Anushakti Vidhyut Nigam Limited (ASHVINI), a joint venture of NPCIL and NTPC, is preparing to invite bids for the Nuclear Island Mega EPC Package (NIMEP) for the Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project (MBRAPP). The package, valued at more than ₹28,000 crore, is expected to become the largest Nuclear Island EPC contract ever floated for India’s indigenous Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) programme.

ASHVINI, a subsidiary of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) and a joint venture with NTPC Limited, will release the tender for the Nuclear Island Mega EPC Package (NIMEP).
The tender is for Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project (MBRAPP) Units 1 to 4, which will consist of four indigenous 700 MWe Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs) with a combined capacity of 2,800 MW.
Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project: What Does the ₹28,000 Crore Package Include
The EPC package is estimated to be worth over ₹28,000 crore. It covers the complete engineering, manufacturing, procurement, supply, civil construction, installation, testing and commissioning support for the critical Nuclear Island systems of all four reactor units.
This makes it the largest Nuclear Island EPC package ever issued under India’s indigenous PHWR programme.

The project is expected to strengthen India’s domestic nuclear manufacturing ecosystem. It will create major opportunities for Indian engineering, manufacturing and infrastructure companies while improving indigenous technology capabilities.
