New Delhi: Santosh Rastogi, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the Maharashtra 1998 batch, has been granted an extension of his central deputation tenure for an additional two years. He will continue to serve as the Inspector General of Police (IG) at the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Ministry of Home Affairs, until August 5, 2027.
Rastogi, who has been serving in the NIA, India’s premier counter-terrorism agency, has previously held key positions, including Joint Commissioner of Crime and Joint Commissioner of Administration in Mumbai Police. He also served as the Additional Resident Commissioner of Maharashtra Sadan in New Delhi. A distinguished officer, he is a recipient of the HM Special Operation Medal for his exemplary service.
The NIA, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, is responsible for investigating and prosecuting crimes that threaten national security, including terrorism and insurgency. It handles complex cases with inter-state and international implications, having the authority to investigate offenses committed abroad. Rastogi’s extension underscores the confidence in his leadership and expertise in handling critical national security matters.
