Ranchi: A significant step toward strengthening youth development and legal-academic cooperation was marked with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Jharkhand State Youth Commission (JSYC) and the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi.
The agreement aims to build long-term institutional collaboration focused on youth empowerment, legal awareness, and research-driven policy development.
MoU Signed by JSYC and NUSRL Leadership
The MoU was signed by Ved Ratna Mohan, Joint Secretary-cum-Member Secretary on behalf of JSYC, and Prof. (Dr.) Ashok R. Patil, Vice-Chancellor of NUSRL, Ranchi.
The signing ceremony was attended by members of the academic community, students, and distinguished guests, highlighting the importance of the initiative in shaping youth-oriented programs.
Focus on Youth Development, Training and Legal Awareness
The partnership is designed to promote youth-centric initiatives, including legal awareness and skill development. Key objectives of the MoU include:
- Promotion of youth-focused policy research and legal education
- Organization of workshops, training programmes and skill development initiatives
- Development of platforms for youth leadership and civic engagement
- Exchange of academic knowledge and institutional expertise
Wide Areas of Academic and Policy Collaboration
The collaboration will extend to multiple academic and professional domains, such as:
- Youth policy research and advocacy
- Seminars, conclaves, moot courts and competitions
- Joint research publications and policy papers
- Internship and fellowship opportunities for students
- Emerging fields like Artificial Intelligence, digital governance and startup ecosystems
The MoU will remain valid for three years, with the possibility of renewal based on mutual consent.
Focus on Ethics and Professional Values in Legal Education
During the event, Dr. Vagish Upadhyay highlighted the importance of ethics in shaping responsible professionals, emphasizing that life without ethics holds no true value.
Special Lecture on “Ethics vs Success” at NUSRL
Alongside the MoU signing, NUSRL organized a special guest lecture titled “Ethics vs Success: What Kind of Lawyer Will You Be?”
The session was delivered by Kumar Gaurav, Hon’ble Chairman of JSYC, who stressed the importance of integrity in the legal profession. He stated that the balance between ethics and success defines a true legal professional and encouraged students to uphold honesty, responsibility, and social sensitivity.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students actively participated and engaged in meaningful discussions.
