Bengaluru: Amid serious allegations of harassment and misconduct within the police ranks, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara has sought a detailed report from Director General and Inspector General of Police (DGP&IGP) MA Saleem regarding the developments linked to the DCRE unit.
The Minister stated that he had taken cognisance of media reports highlighting the allegations and assured that the matter would be examined thoroughly.
Serious Allegations from Within Police Ranks
The controversy stems from complaints raised by DCRE Inspector Srinivas TR, who has levelled serious accusations against his senior officers, alleging continuous harassment.
In a parallel development, DCRE Superintendent of Police SS Kashi has also written to the DGP, alleging misconduct involving the Mangaluru City Police Commissioner and certain IPS officers. In his communication, Kashi has sought 30 minutes to personally present details of the case.
Government Treats Matter with Seriousness
Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, the Home Minister emphasized that both complaints are being taken seriously by the government.
He confirmed that directions have been issued to the DGP to submit a comprehensive report examining all aspects of the allegations, including the circumstances surrounding the complaints and the conduct of the officers involved.
Next Steps After Report Submission
“After receiving the report, we will verify the facts and take appropriate action based on the findings,” G Parameshwarasaid, indicating that further steps would depend on the outcome of the inquiry.
Focus on Accountability in Police Force
The developments have once again brought attention to issues of internal accountability, workplace conduct, and grievance redressal mechanisms within police departments. The outcome of the probe is expected to have significant implications for disciplinary processes and institutional transparency within the Karnataka Police.
