Mumbai: In one of the most significant administrative reshuffles in recent years, the Maharashtra Home Department has transferred and promoted 53 senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers across the state. The sweeping changes affect key positions in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune and several district police units.
Among the headline changes, 2008 batch IPS officer Deepak Sakore, husband of Maharashtra Minister Meghna Sakore-Bordikar, has been promoted from Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) to Joint Commissioner of Police, Navi Mumbai.
The reshuffle also brings major leadership changes to the Mumbai Police, including new appointments in the Crime Branch, Law and Order, Traffic, and Economic Offences Wing.

Anil Kumbhare Appointed Joint CP, Crime Branch
Former Joint Commissioner of Mumbai Traffic Police, Anil Kumbhare, has been appointed as Joint Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch. The Crime Branch is one of Mumbai Police’s most crucial units, handling organized crime, major criminal investigations, and underworld-related cases.
Manoj Kumar Sharma to Oversee Law and Order
Popularly known for inspiring the biographical film 12th Fail, Manoj Kumar Sharma has been posted as Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Mumbai. He was previously serving as Inspector General of Police (Law and Order), Maharashtra.
Satya Narayan Chaudhary Shifted to Traffic
Satya Narayan Chaudhary, who was handling Law and Order in Mumbai, will now serve as Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic).
Rajesh Pradhan to Lead EOW
Rajesh Pradhan has been appointed as Joint Commissioner of Police, Economic Offences Wing (EOW), replacing Nishith Mishra, who has been posted as Special Inspector General of Police (Training).
Deepak Sakore Elevated in Navi Mumbai
Deepak Sakore’s elevation to Joint Commissioner of Police, Navi Mumbai, is among the most talked-about appointments in the reshuffle. He was serving as Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) and has now been entrusted with a key leadership role in one of Maharashtra’s fastest-growing urban policing jurisdictions.
Meanwhile, Prashant Mohite, Deputy Commissioner of Police in Navi Mumbai, has been transferred to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Force One and ATS Get New Leadership
S. Jayakumar Appointed Special IG, Force One
Senior IPS officer S. Jayakumar of the 2004 batch has been appointed Special Inspector General, Force One.
He replaces Krishna Prakash, who has been posted as Additional Director General (Training).
Paramjit Dahiya Promoted as IG, ATS
Additional Commissioner Paramjit Dahiya has been promoted to the rank of Inspector General and posted to the Anti-Terrorism Squad.
Lakhmi Gautam Named IG (Law and Order)
Lakhmi Gautam, who was serving as Joint Commissioner of the Mumbai Crime Branch, has been appointed Inspector General of Police (Law and Order), Maharashtra.
Promotions in Mumbai and Pune
Several Deputy Commissioners of Police in Mumbai have been promoted to the rank of Additional Commissioner of Police, including:
- Pravin Mundhe
- Krishnakant Upadhyay
- Dixit Gedam
In Pune, Tejaswi Satpute has been appointed Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime).

The reshuffle also brought significant changes to the Nagpur Police.

DCP Zone-2 Nityanand Jha has been appointed Superintendent of Police, Yavatmal.

Nagpur City has received three new senior officers:

- Yashwant Solanke Joins Anti-Narcotics Squad
Yashwant Solanke has been transferred from Highway Security, Nagpur, and posted as Additional Superintendent of Police in the Anti-Narcotics Squad, Nagpur.

The large-scale transfer and promotion exercise reflects the Maharashtra government’s efforts to strengthen policing, improve administrative efficiency, and position experienced officers in critical operational roles across the state.
The reshuffle is expected to enhance coordination in law enforcement, crime control, traffic management, anti-terror operations, and district policing.
