Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav drew attention during his visit to Singrauli on May 23 after choosing to travel in a tourist bus instead of using his official convoy. Accompanied by ministers and public representatives, the chief minister reached the event venue at the NCL Ground in the bus, sending out a message of simplicity and accessibility.
The move is being seen as aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s repeated emphasis on austerity and public-centric governance.
CM Travels with Ministers and MLAs
During the visit, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav travelled with several ministers, MPs, MLAs, and local representatives in the tourist bus. Among those accompanying him were Public Health Engineering Minister Sampatiya Uikey; Minister of State for Panchayat and Rural Development Radha Singh; MP Dr. Rajesh Mishra; and legislators from Singrauli, Deosar, Dhouhani, and Singhaval constituencies.
Senior local leaders and representatives, including officials associated with the Singrauli Development Authority and the Madhya Pradesh Home & Infrastructure Construction Board, were also part of the journey.
Message of Simplicity and Public Connection
By choosing a common mode of transport over a large official convoy, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of staying connected with people beyond official protocol. Citizens present during the visit appreciated the gesture and described it as a reflection of grounded leadership.
The decision also underlined the idea that public service is rooted in accessibility, discipline, and direct engagement with citizens rather than displays of authority.
Gesture Reflects PM Modi’s Vision of Austerity
The Chief Minister’s action echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s repeated calls for simplicity in public life and responsible use of government resources. Political observers noted that such gestures help reinforce the message of humility and accountability in governance.
Dr. Yadav’s Singrauli visit, apart from its administrative significance, became a talking point because of the symbolic choice to travel alongside fellow public representatives in a tourist bus rather than through a formal convoy arrangement.
