Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has approved a series of major financial and policy decisions aimed at accelerating infrastructure development, improving social welfare, strengthening healthcare, and boosting rural and urban connectivity across the state.
The decisions were taken during a high-level cabinet meeting held in Bhopal, marking one of the most significant development funding approvals for the state in recent years.
Total Development Outlay of Over ₹29,540 Crore Approved
The cabinet sanctioned more than ₹29,540 crore for overall state development and public welfare initiatives. These funds will be directed toward:
- Infrastructure expansion
- Social welfare schemes
- Urban and rural development
- Healthcare and education projects
- Administrative and financial system strengthening
The government emphasized long-term development planning aligned with the upcoming financial cycle.

₹6,900 Crore for Urban Roads and Infrastructure Upgrade
A major portion of the allocation, around ₹6,900 crore, has been approved for:
- Construction of new urban roads
- Strengthening of existing city road networks
- Upgradation of municipal transport infrastructure
This is expected to significantly improve connectivity in towns and urban centres across Madhya Pradesh.
₹6,116 Crore for Elderly Pension Scheme
Under the National Social Assistance Programme, the cabinet approved ₹6,115.99 crore for the continuation of the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme for five years starting April 2026.
Key highlights:
- Monthly pension: ₹600
- Beneficiaries: Senior citizens living below poverty line
- Scheme ensures financial support for elderly citizens across the state
₹763 Crore for New Medical College in Budni
To strengthen healthcare and medical education, the government approved a revised estimate of ₹763.40 crore for setting up:
- A new MBBS medical college in Budni (Sehore district)
- A 500-bed affiliated hospital
- Nursing college (60 seats)
- Paramedical college (60 seats)
This project aims to improve access to medical education and healthcare services in central Madhya Pradesh.
₹163.95 Crore Irrigation Project in Neemuch
The cabinet also cleared a ₹163.95 crore micro-irrigation project in Neemuch district.
Benefits include:
- Irrigation coverage for 5,200 hectares of farmland
- Coverage of 22 villages
- Improved agricultural productivity and water management
Policy Reforms and Financial Adjustments
Several administrative and financial reforms were also approved, including:
- Increase in discretionary grant limit for state ministers from ₹16,000 to ₹25,000 per case
- Price adjustment mechanism for road construction contracts under ₹10 crore
- Monthly price revision system for EPC and HAM road projects under MPRDC guidelines
- Relief to contractors amid rising bitumen and crude oil prices
₹94 Crore Multilevel Parking Project in Jabalpur
A major infrastructure project was approved in Jabalpur:
- ₹94.16 crore multilevel parking facility near High Court
- Exempted from departmental index-based cost calculation
- Designed to improve traffic and parking management in the city
Focus on State Traders’ Welfare Board (Additional Decision)
In a related development, the state also approved the formation of a State Traders’ Welfare Board, aimed at:
- Addressing traders’ grievances
- Strengthening government-trader communication
- Supporting economic growth at district and state levels
- Ensuring quarterly and monthly review meetings for implementation
The board will include representatives from key national institutions and industry bodies.
The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet’s latest decisions reflect a strong push toward infrastructure modernization, social security expansion, healthcare development, and economic reform.
