Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has approved financial allocations totalling around ₹2,480 crore to accelerate the state’s overall development, infrastructure expansion and welfare initiatives.
The decisions were taken at a Cabinet meeting held at the Mantralaya on Tuesday. The approvals cover a wide range of sectors, including sports, irrigation, information technology, women’s empowerment, employee welfare, pensions and farmer support.
Among the major decisions, the Cabinet approved the continuation of IT Park-related initiatives, which are expected to create employment opportunities for more than 8,000 local youth, while also approving funds for irrigation projects, a Drone Technology Centre of Excellence at IISER Bhopal and the continuation of several welfare schemes.
₹18.74 Crore Approved for Women’s Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2026
The Cabinet has given in-principle approval for an expenditure of ₹18.74 crore for hosting the Women’s Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2026 in Bhopal in October 2026.
The tournament will be held at the International Sports Complex located at Barkheda Nathu in Bhopal.
The competition is expected to feature around 200 players and support staff representing six leading Asian women’s hockey teams:
- India
- China
- Japan
- Malaysia
- South Korea
- Thailand
The event will be organised jointly by Hockey India and the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare.
Under the agreement, ₹11 crore will be provided to Hockey India for Pageant Partner Rights, while ₹7.74 crore will be spent by the department on other necessary arrangements.
The government expects the international tournament to promote Madhya Pradesh’s sports infrastructure globally, boost the morale of local hockey players and provide a boost to tourism as teams and players from across Asia visit Bhopal.
₹111 Crore Approved for Rewa? Rihand Micro Irrigation Project in Singrauli
The Cabinet has approved ₹111.04 crore for the continued operation of the Rihand Micro Irrigation Project in Singrauli during the 16th Central Finance Commission period from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2031.
The project aims to lift stored water from the Govind Ballabh Pant Sagar Reservoir, located on the Rihand River, and provide irrigation through a micro-irrigation system. The project is designed to supply irrigation water to 38,000 hectares across 119 villages in the Singrauli, Mada, Waidhan and Jiyawan tehsils.
₹184.20 Crore for Malhargarh Pressurised Lift Irrigation Project
The Cabinet has also approved ₹184.20 crore for the continued operation of the Malhargarh Pressurised Large Lift Irrigation Project in Mandsaur during the period from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2031.
The project is a lift irrigation initiative aimed at developing irrigation capacity across approximately 46,500 hectares in Mandsaur district. The approval is expected to support the continued operation of the project and strengthen irrigation infrastructure in the region.
₹857.21 Crore Approved for Science, Technology and Centre of Excellence Projects
The Cabinet has approved ₹857.21 crore for the continued operation of various schemes of the Department of Science and Technology during the 16th Central Finance Commission period.
This includes ₹85.51 crore for establishing a Drone Technology-based Centre of Excellence at IISER Bhopal.
The Centre of Excellence will focus on research and development in areas such as:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Drone simulation
- Digital Twin technology
- UAV design and manufacturing
- Autonomous systems
- Advanced drone applications
- Startup incubation
- Proof of Concept (PoC)
- Prototype development and testing
The initiative aims to create a comprehensive and self-reliant drone technology ecosystem in Madhya Pradesh while promoting research, innovation and entrepreneurship.
IT Park Scheme Gets ₹595 Crore Approval, Over 8,000 Jobs Expected
The Cabinet has approved ₹595 crore for the state’s IT Park establishment scheme.
IT Parks have already been established in:
- Indore
- Bhopal
- Jabalpur
- Gwalior
The government expects the development of IT Parks and IT Towers to attract domestic and international investors, encourage industrial activity and create direct and indirect employment opportunities.
The continuation of the scheme is expected to provide skill-based employment and self-employment opportunities to more than 8,000 local youth. The government has stated that around 22,000 young people have already received employment under the initiative.
The expansion of the IT and ESDM sectors through the effective implementation of MoUs signed under the Global Investors Summit (GIS) is also expected to strengthen the state’s economy and enhance Madhya Pradesh’s position as an emerging technology and investment destination.
₹110 Crore for New Technology and Digital Solutions
The Cabinet has approved ₹110 crore under the scheme for providing support to MPSEDC and other institutions for new technology.
The initiative aims to provide government departments with modern IT solutions and digital services to make administration more efficient, transparent and accountable.
The scheme includes several technology-driven initiatives, including:
- AI/ML-based business intelligence
- WhatsApp chatbots
- Drone services
- SMS gateways
- MP CODE
- E-sign
- State email policy
- Low-code/no-code platforms
- Security audit laboratories
The objective is also to provide citizens with faster, simpler and safer online government services.
₹40.20 Crore Approved for Madhya Pradesh Spatial Data Infrastructure
The Cabinet has approved ₹40.20 crore for the Madhya Pradesh State Spatial Data Infrastructure (MP-SSDI) scheme.
The initiative will focus on creating, maintaining and updating integrated spatial data using Geographic Information System (GIS) technology.
The system is expected to support departments and agencies with updated and reliable GIS-based services.
It will help improve real-time monitoring and decision-making in areas such as:
- Disaster management
- Water supply
- Land management
- Urban development
- Road maintenance
₹26.50 Crore Approved for Cloud Services
The Cabinet has approved ₹26.50 crore for the provision and management of cloud services. The initiative is aimed at accelerating digital transformation across government services and supporting the vision of a Digital Madhya Pradesh.
Under the scheme, government and semi-government departments will be provided with secure, flexible, scalable and cost-effective cloud services. These services will allow departments to access computing resources, storage, networking and software through cloud platforms, reducing the need for large capital investments in building and maintaining IT infrastructure.
New Electricity Safety Inspectorate Circle Office Approved for Gwalior
The Cabinet has approved the establishment of a new circle office of the Electricity Safety Inspectorate in Gwalior, along with the creation of nine new posts. The Energy Department has been authorised to complete the process related to the creation of the new office and posts.
At present, electricity safety and revenue collection-related work for the Gwalior and Chambal divisions is handled from the Bhopal headquarters. The new office is expected to particularly benefit industrial areas such as Bamour in Morena and Malanpur in Bhind.
The decision is also significant in view of the proposed 600 MW battery storage solar power plant in Morena, for which the new Gwalior circle office is considered necessary.
Nine New Judicial Posts Approved in Narayangarh
The Cabinet has approved the creation of nine new judicial posts in Narayangarh, Mandsaur, including one post of District and Additional Sessions Judge.
The move will enable regular functioning of the court in the area and is expected to help address the demands of local residents and lawyers. The government expects the decision to improve access to justice and facilitate the faster disposal of cases for people in the region.
₹129.12 Crore Approved for RCVP Noronha Academy
The Cabinet has approved ₹129.12 crore for the continued operation of schemes related to the RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration and Management during the 16th Central Finance Commission period from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2031.
The approved funds will support:
- Establishment and office-related expenditure
- Mission Karmayogi initiatives
- Maintenance of departmental assets
- Development of physical facilities for training activities at the academy campus
₹198.59 Crore Approved for Women’s Empowerment Initiatives
The Cabinet has approved ₹198.59 crore for the continued implementation of Sankalp: Hub for Empowerment of Women, Shakti Sadan and Sakhi Niwas under the Mission Shakti sub-scheme Samarthya from 2026-27 to 2030-31.
The initiatives will focus on women’s awareness, empowerment, safety and access to support services.
Sankalp: Hub for Empowerment of Women
The Sankalp initiative works at the district level to create awareness among women about government schemes and policies related to their welfare and empowerment.
The scheme is already operational in all 52 existing districts and will now also be implemented in three newly created districts.
Shakti Sadan
Shakti Sadan aims to provide a safe and supportive environment for women, including those facing difficult circumstances and women rescued from trafficking.
At present, 14 Shakti Sadan centres are being operated through non-governmental organisations in the state, while the Government of India has approved five new Shakti Sadan centres.
Sakhi Niwas
The Sakhi Niwas scheme provides convenient and safe accommodation for working women in urban and rural areas. Previously known as Mahila Vishramalaya, the facility is open to working women from all sections of society.
The scheme also provides for day-care centres for the young children of women employees. Madhya Pradesh currently has three government-run Sakhi Niwas facilities.
₹982.49 Crore Approved for Employee Welfare, Pension and Insurance Schemes
The Cabinet has approved ₹982.49 crore for the continued operation of employee welfare, pension, provident fund and insurance schemes under the Finance Department for the 16th Central Finance Commission period from 1 April 2026 to March 2031.
The funding will support various initiatives and institutions, including:
- Directorate of Pension, Provident Fund and Insurance
- Pension and Employee Welfare Directorate
- District Pension Offices
- Maintenance of departmental assets
- Pensioners’ Welfare Fund
- Interest on the Government Servants Family Welfare Fund
- Government Employees Group Insurance Scheme
- Government Employees-cum-Group Insurance Scheme
Bonus Payment Scheme for Farmers to Continue
The Cabinet has approved the continuation of the scheme for bonus payments to farmers on procurement at Minimum Support Price (MSP) during the 16th Central Finance Commission period from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2031.
The scheme falls under the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department and has an allocation of more than ₹500 crore.The decision is aimed at continuing financial support for farmers through bonus payments linked to procurement at support prices.
Madhya Pradesh Legal Metrology Rules, 2011 to Be Amended
The Cabinet has also approved amendments to the Madhya Pradesh Legal Metrology Rules, 2011. The amendment aims to effectively implement changes made by the Government of India to the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 through the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026.
The changes are also intended to implement recommendations related to compliance reduction and deregulation and revise verification fees for weighing and measuring instruments.

The latest Cabinet decisions represent a broad set of measures covering infrastructure, irrigation, sports, technology, employment, women’s empowerment, employee welfare and farmer support.
With around ₹2,480 crore in financial approvals, the Madhya Pradesh government has focused on continuing key schemes and strengthening development infrastructure. The decisions related to IT Parks, drone technology, irrigation projects, women’s welfare, farmer bonuses and employee welfare are expected to have an impact across multiple sectors of the state.
