Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated the newly constructed Bhopal Municipal Corporation headquarters building, built at a cost of ₹73 crore, in Tulsi Nagar, Bhopal. The building has been dedicated to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and is designed as a modern symbol of governance, sustainability, and public service.
On the same occasion, the Chief Minister also remotely inaugurated a 10.5 MW solar power plant in Neemuch district, developed at a cost of ₹14 crore.
‘Atal Bhavan’ Designed for Smart and Transparent Governance
The new municipal headquarters has been named “Atal Bhavan” in honour of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. CM Yadav said the building reflects Vajpayee’s vision of public service and will ensure fast, transparent, and citizen-friendly services.
The facility is designed so that citizens can access all municipal services under one roof, improving efficiency and convenience.

Green Building with Energy Self-Reliance
Built on a green building concept, the headquarters focuses on:
- Energy efficiency
- Environmental protection
- Use of natural lighting and ventilation
- Sustainable architecture
The building is designed to meet its own energy needs, making it an example of self-reliant and eco-friendly infrastructure.
10.5 MW Solar Plant Inaugurated in Neemuch
Along with the headquarters, CM Yadav also inaugurated a 10.5 MW solar energy plant in Deori village of Neemuch via remote operation.
The solar plant will supply electricity to the municipal building, strengthening its green energy model. Officials said this step will significantly reduce dependency on conventional power sources.

Bhopal Moving Towards Smart Metropolitan City
CM Yadav said Bhopal is being developed as a metropolitan city, with surrounding districts like Raisen, Sehore, Vidisha, and Rajgarh being integrated into its growth plan.
He added that the city is emerging as a model of clean, green, and modern urban development.
Focus on Cleanliness and Citizen Services
During the event, the Chief Minister also:
- Took a cleanliness pledge stating “Bhopal will remain No.1 in cleanliness”
- Distributed PPE kits to sanitation workers
- Handed over housing and loan benefits under government schemes
He emphasized that urban bodies are key pillars of democratic governance and public welfare.

The building incorporates traditional Indian architectural principles combined with modern design, ensuring:
- Proper sunlight utilization
- Natural airflow
- Advanced workspace design
- Centralized service delivery system

The government highlighted that both the solar plant and the green municipal building represent Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to renewable energy, sustainable development, and modern governance systems.
The inauguration marks a major step in transforming Bhopal into a smart urban hub with integrated governance, clean energy solutions, and citizen-centric services aimed at improving quality of life.
