Dimapur: The investigation into the deadly Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in Nagaland‘s Chümoukedima district has intensified, with the National Security Guard (NSG) deploying its elite Black Cat Bomb Disposal Unit to assist the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Nagaland Police.
The move comes two days after the powerful explosion at Chümoukedima ‘A’ on July 13, which claimed the life of an Assam Rifles jawan and left five others injured.
NSG Team Joins Investigation
The NSG team arrived in Nagaland on Wednesday (July 15) and conducted a detailed inspection of the blast site alongside officials of the NIA and the Nagaland Police.
The deployment of the specialised bomb disposal unit is expected to strengthen the forensic and technical examination of the explosion as agencies work to determine the nature of the device and identify those responsible.

The DGP also confirmed that the NSG experts had carried out a comprehensive examination of the blast site as part of the probe.
Police Dismiss Viral Arrest Claims

According to police sources, the individual mentioned in the viral posts was only detained by the Assam Rifles for questioning and was subsequently interrogated by the Nagaland Police.
After verification, investigators found no credible evidence linking the individual to the explosion. Police clarified that the detention resulted from a case of mistaken identity, following which the person was released.
Public Urged Not to Spread Unverified Information
Police have urged the public to refrain from circulating unverified information related to the case, stressing that the investigation is still underway.
Officials reiterated that the viral claim regarding an arrest was false and appealed to citizens to rely only on official updates while the NIA, NSG and Nagaland Police continue their joint investigation into the blast.
