In a significant move within the police department, the Pushkar Singh Dhami government has executed a major reshuffle of its police leadership. Following the transfer of District Magistrates, the administration appointed new police captains for five districts and reorganized key roles within the state police force.
Among the major changes, 1996 batch IPS officer Abhinav Kumar, who currently serves as Additional Director General of Police, has been entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing law and order in the state.
In a related development, 1998 batch IPS officer AP Anshuman, the Additional Director General of Police who previously managed law and order, has been reassigned to head the Intelligence unit.
The government has also made substantial changes to district-level police leadership. According to an order issued by Secretary Home Shailesh Bagoli –
2015 batch IPS officer Manikant Mishra has been appointed as the Senior Superintendent of Police for Udham Singh Nagar, replacing Manjunath TC, who has been reassigned to the Intelligence Headquarters as Superintendent of Police.
Ayush Agarwal will now serve as the Senior Superintendent of Police in Tehri, taking over from Navneet Singh, who has been moved to the position of Senior Superintendent of Police for the Special Task Force (STF).
Amit Shrivastava has been designated as the Superintendent of Police for Uttarkashi.
Akshay Prahlad Konde will lead as the Superintendent of Police in Rudraprayag.
Chandrashekhar Ghodke has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police for Bageshwar.
In addition to district appointments, several senior positions have been redefined:
Neeru Garg has been assigned as the Inspector General of Police for the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATC).
Mukhtar Mohsin will oversee the Fire Service as Inspector General of Police.
Arun Mohan Joshi has been given the role of Inspector General of Police and Director of Traffic and Chardham Yatra Management.
Shweta Choubey will now command the IRB II as Commander.
Arpan Yaduvanshi has been made Commander of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
Vishakha Ashok Bhadane has been tasked with overseeing women’s crime and police conduct as Superintendent of Police, Women Crime, at the Police Headquarters.
These changes reflect the government’s proactive stance on enhancing the effectiveness of law enforcement and intelligence operations in response to the state’s growing security needs.
