Lucknow: Lucknow’s Indira Gandhi Pratishthan became the centre of celebrations on Labour Day as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the “Shramveer Gaurav Samaroh 2026”. The event focused on honouring workers and launching multiple welfare initiatives aimed at strengthening labour welfare across the state.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several worker-centric projects during the programme.
CM Highlights Role of Workers in State Development
Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi Adityanath praised the contribution of workers, describing them as the “silent strength” behind the nation’s progress. He said that the dreams of society take shape through the hard work and dedication of labourers.
He extended gratitude to workers contributing to Uttar Pradesh’s development and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to their welfare.

Launch of Welfare Projects and ESIC Expansion Plans
During the event, the Chief Minister announced and inaugurated several initiatives linked to labour welfare, including:
- Allocation of land for the ESIC Hospital in Greater Noida
- Expansion of ESIS dispensaries across districts
- Proposal to establish ESIS medical facilities in remaining districts
- Launch and foundation laying of multiple labour welfare schemes
According to the government, ESIS dispensaries are currently operational in 116 centres across 41 districts, with expansion planned for the remaining districts.
Benefits and Facilities for Workers Announced
CM Yogi outlined a series of new facilities aimed at improving living conditions for workers, including:
- Dormitory facilities for labourers
- Subsidised canteens with quality food
- Clean toilets and bathing facilities
- CCTV-based security arrangements
- Recreational amenities for workers
He also stressed that workers must receive fair wages, stating that “payment for work must be ensured without compromise.”

Recognition of Students and Workers
The event also featured recognition of students and workers contributing to state development:
- Distribution of certificates and tablets to meritorious students of Atal Residential Schools
- Felicitation of principals from schools in Prayagraj and Varanasi
- Honour for selected workers from all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh
- Distribution of toolkits to five specially selected workers on stage
Focus on Education, Health, and Social Security
The Chief Minister highlighted several welfare measures already in progress, including:
- Expansion of Atal Residential Schools for workers’ children
- Provision of quality education facilities for labour families
- Ayushman Bharat health coverage for free treatment
- Proposal to expand insurance coverage up to ₹5 lakh for families of deceased workers
- Continued free ration distribution to eligible families
He also mentioned ongoing efforts to improve housing and sanitation under state welfare schemes.
Uttar Pradesh’s Industrial Growth Highlighted
CM Yogi stated that Uttar Pradesh has undergone significant industrial expansion in recent years. He claimed that:
- Thousands of new industries have been established since 2017
- The state has become a major “growth engine” of India’s economy
- Industrial development has created employment opportunities for lakhs of youth
Government Reaffirms Commitment to Labour Welfare
The Chief Minister concluded that the state government remains fully committed to the social and economic empowerment of workers. He emphasized continued efforts to ensure welfare benefits reach the grassroots level effectively.
The event reflected the government’s broader focus on strengthening labour welfare infrastructure while showcasing ongoing development initiatives across Uttar Pradesh.
