Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved a major relief package for state government employees and pensioners, along with significant financial sanctions for infrastructure development projects across the state.
The decision includes an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) from 58% to 60%, effective from January 1, 2026, and the approval of ₹50 crore for various development works including police housing and parking infrastructure.
DA Increased from 58% to 60% for Employees and Pensioners
The state government has approved a 2% hike in Dearness Allowance for government employees and pensioners, increasing the existing rate from 58% to 60%.
The revised DA will come into effect from January 1, 2026, and is expected to benefit lakhs of state employees and retired personnel across Uttarakhand.
The decision has been welcomed by employee associations, including the State Employees Joint Council, which expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for the move.
Major Relief for Lakhs of Families in the State
The increase in DA is expected to provide direct financial relief amid rising inflation. Government employees and pensioners will see an improvement in monthly income and pension benefits following the implementation of the revised rates.
Officials said the decision reflects the state government’s focus on employee welfare and financial stability for retired personnel.
₹50 Crore Approved for Infrastructure Development
Alongside the DA hike, Chief Minister Dhami also approved ₹50 crore for key infrastructure projects aimed at improving public facilities and strengthening law enforcement infrastructure across Uttarakhand.
The sanctioned projects include:
- Construction of 76 residential units at Haldwani Fire Station worth ₹36.64 crore
- Housing facilities for police personnel at Thana Reetha Sahib in Champawat worth ₹3.47 crore
- Construction of 6 housing units and boundary wall at Kotwali Pancheshwar in Champawat worth ₹3.13 crore
These projects aim to improve living conditions for police and fire service personnel while strengthening operational efficiency.
New Parking Facilities to Ease Traffic in Hill Areas
To address parking shortages in key towns and tourist areas, the government has also approved funds for parking infrastructure development.
- ₹5.91 crore sanctioned for parking construction at Maulikhal Market in Almora
- ₹61.57 lakh approved for vehicle parking facility at Gwaldam Market in Chamoli
These projects are expected to ease traffic congestion, support tourism, and improve convenience for local traders and visitors.
Focus on Welfare and Development Balance
The latest decisions highlight the Uttarakhand government’s dual focus on employee welfare and infrastructure development. While the DA hike provides financial relief to employees and pensioners, the infrastructure investments aim to improve urban facilities and public services across the state.
