New Delhi: Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) has been recognised as the “Best PSU Partner” under the PM Internship Scheme (PMIS) Recognition of Partner Company Awards by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India.
The national recognition acknowledges WCL’s leadership, effective execution and quality implementation of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme. The award was presented by Dr. Pallavi Jain Govil, Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, to Mr. Bikram Ghosh, Director (Finance & HR), WCL, who received the honour on behalf of the company.
WCL Recognised for PM Internship Scheme Implementation
The award recognises WCL’s contribution towards providing young people with practical industry exposure, skill development opportunities and pathways to employment.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bikram Ghosh said WCL has been actively supporting the PM Internship Scheme and creating opportunities for youth, particularly those living in interior coalfield areas.
These areas often have limited access to structured training and career opportunities. Through PMIS, WCL is helping young people gain practical skills and industry experience closer to their homes and communities.

WCL Offers 150 Internship Opportunities Under Third Round of PMIS
As part of the third round of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme, WCL has offered 150 internship opportunities across key technical disciplines.
Internship Opportunities Offered by WCL
- 45 opportunities for Diploma holders in Mining Engineering
- 25 opportunities for graduates in Mining Engineering
- 80 opportunities for graduates in Electrical Engineering and ITI Electricians
- Total: 150 internship opportunities
The initiative is aimed at providing young people with practical exposure to the mining and electrical sectors while helping them develop skills relevant to industry requirements.
PMIS Supports Youth in Interior Coalfield Areas
Mr. Ghosh highlighted the importance of creating training and career opportunities for young people living in interior coalfield regions.
According to him, the PM Internship Scheme is helping bridge the gap between education and practical industry experience by providing opportunities closer to the communities where young people live.

Interns to Receive ₹9,000 Monthly Stipend
The revised PM Internship Scheme stipend of ₹9,000 per month will provide additional financial support to interns during their training period. Interns will also receive applicable leave and access to other facilities at mines.
