Recently, Ms. Supriya Sahu (IAS officer) took to X and offered her heartfelt gratitude to the forest officials and local fishermen of Tamil Nadu after they rescued a struggling striped dolphin from the Palk Bay region of Ramanathapuram district and released the magnificent creature back to its habitat.
The aquatic giant was immediately nursed by the forest officials, who worked diligently to minimise its distress. The officials even collaborated with the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) to provide the necessary treatment and care for the dolphin. After rescuing the beautiful creature, the forest staff kept it under rehabilitation and treatment before allowing it to venture out into the mighty sea again.
Officer Sahu wrote, “TN Forest team and local fishermen found a striped dolphin in distressed condition in Palk Bay region in Ramanathapuram district. With the help of experts from the Wildlife Institute of India, they successfully treated and released the dolphin back into the sea. Gratitude to the local people and the dedicated forest team.”
