Patna: Bihar’s ambitious target of creating one crore employment opportunities in five years is gaining momentum, with more than 1.16 lakh young people getting employment since November 2025, according to the Youth Employment and Skill Development Department.
The government is expanding job fairs, recruitment drives and online platforms to connect young people with employment and self-employment opportunities based on their skills, qualifications and interests.
Mega Job Fair Brings 20,000 Opportunities
The five-day Mega Job Fair-2026 is being held at Gyan Bhawan in Patna from August 19 to 23. More than 100 companies from banking, financial services, insurance, retail and other sectors are participating.
The participating companies have brought over 20,000 job opportunities for Bihar’s youth.
During the first two days, around 12,900 candidates participated, with 6,180 candidates selected for employment opportunities.

Six Job Fairs Planned Every Year
The department plans to organise employment fairs six times a year to give more young people access to employers.
Online job fairs are also being considered. The move could help candidates from different districts connect with companies without having to travel to major cities.
The department aims to make recruitment more accessible while helping employers find candidates suited to specific roles.

DEDT Portal Attracts 1.20 Lakh Registrations
The government’s DEDT portal has also recorded more than 1.20 lakh registrations since November.
The platform is designed to connect job seekers with employers and make the employment process easier and more transparent.
With both physical and online recruitment channels being expanded, the government is looking to create a wider employment network across Bihar.
Skills Remain a Key Focus
The employment programme also places emphasis on skill development. The government wants to create a workforce that can compete for opportunities within India as well as overseas.
Better skills can help young people secure jobs while also improving their earning potential and long-term career prospects.
Major Companies Join Recruitment Drive
The Mega Job Fair has attracted several well-known companies, including Tata Trent, Croma, V-Mart, D-Mart, Samsung, Flipkart and BigBasket.
Financial-sector companies such as AU Small Finance Bank, SBI Life, Airtel Payments Bank, IndusInd Bank and ICICI Bank are also participating.
Minister Arun Shankar Prasad said the government’s objective extends beyond simply placing young people in jobs. The focus is on providing opportunities that allow them to contribute to their families, communities and Bihar’s economic growth.
With the one-crore employment target, regular job fairs, online recruitment and greater emphasis on skills, the state is seeking to build a broader employment ecosystem for its young population.
