FROM RAIDS TO CAMPAIGNS
Naina’s two-decade journey has been nothing short of an action thriller. In her earlier roles, she led high-stakes income tax raids, scrutinized corporate accounts, and served as a quasi-judicial authority. Her responsibilities often unfolded like detective stories, uncovering hidden trails of financial misconduct.
Fast forward to later, she swapped audit reports for ad campaigns. Her office hummed with brainstorming sessions, where ideas for outdoor billboards, social media campaigns, and TV spots were crafted to catch the taxpayer’s attention.
DESIGNING MINDS, REDEFINING TRAINING
Before her current role, Naina turned her focus to training and capacity building in the Income Tax Department. Her vision was simple yet transformative: empower officers with a global outlook. She collaborated with top-tier universities in the US and Europe, blending international best practices into domestic training programs.
The result? Officers who not only understood the nuances of Indian taxation but could also benchmark themselves against the world’s best. “I wanted them to think beyond forms and files, to see themselves as agents of change,” she shares.
THE COURTROOM CRUSADER
In her earlier years, Naina represented the Income Tax Department in some of its most critical cases, arguing before the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal and the Authority for Advance Rulings. Her courtroom strategy combined a deep understanding of direct tax laws with an unflappable demeanor. These experiences shaped her as a persuasive negotiator and a sharp legal mind.
TAX AS A DIALOGUE, NOT A MONOLOGUE
For Naina, the ultimate goal isn’t just awareness – it’s participation. She envisions a time when taxpayers feel informed and empowered when compliance feels less like an obligation and more like a contribution.
With her sharp mind and refreshing approach, she’s reminding India that even taxes can tell a good story.
