Patna: On the occasion of World Museum Day, a special lecture on the theme “Future of Museums” was organized at the auditorium of Bapu Tower, Patna, highlighting the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technology in transforming museums.
The event was attended by Health Department Secretary Kumar Ravi as the chief guest, along with several museum experts, academicians, and students from various colleges.
AI and Digital Technology Will Define Future Museums
Speaking at the event, Secretary Kumar Ravi said that Artificial Intelligence will play a key role in building future museums, making them more interactive, digital, and technology-driven.
He stated that while modern museums are evolving with multimedia and AI tools, the importance of traditional museums will never diminish as they preserve cultural identity and heritage.
He also described Bapu Tower as a modern museum model, reflecting the shift toward digital storytelling and immersive experiences.

Bapu Tower Director Vinay Kumar explained the evolution of museums and said that modern institutions now focus on:

- Value addition through interpretation of objects
He highlighted that Bapu Tower is a biographical and digital museum that connects visitors with history through technology.
Future Museums May Be Virtual and Research-Based
Chief speaker Dr. Ajfar Ahmed, Director of Planet Patna, discussed the transformation of museums from traditional spaces to future-ready digital platforms.
He said future museums will be:

- Virtual and accessible with a single click
- Environment-conscious
- Powered by AI and digital systems
He emphasized that many museums are already using AI and the trend will expand significantly in the coming years.
Need to Strengthen Regional Museums
Museum expert Dr. Shiv Kumar Mishra said museums are designed for the future and stressed the need to make them more attractive and widely accessible.
He also highlighted the importance of improving and maintaining regional museums in Bihar to preserve local heritage effectively.
Students and Academicians Attend Interactive Session
The event also included an interactive session with participants, followed by a vote of thanks by Deputy Director Lalit Kumar Singh and conducted by Arun Kumar Pathak.
Students from institutions including B.D. College, A.N. College, Arvind Women’s College, and Magadh Women’s College participated in large numbers along with teachers, scholars, and museum staff.

The event concluded with a strong message that museums are evolving from static exhibition spaces into dynamic, AI-powered knowledge centers. Bapu Tower was highlighted as a leading example of this transformation in Bihar’s cultural landscape.
