Patna: In a major push toward world-class road infrastructure, the Bihar government has accelerated work on three new greenfield super highway corridors aimed at reshaping the state’s transport, trade, and industrial landscape. The Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL) has fast-tracked preparations for the Vishwamitra Path, Ganga-Ambika Path, and Narayani Path, with key technical proposals set to be submitted by June 24, 2026.
Officials say these mega infrastructure projects are designed not just to improve connectivity but to redefine Bihar’s economic geography by enabling faster movement of goods, boosting industrial clusters, and strengthening agricultural market access.
Strategic Push for High-Speed Road Infrastructure
The state has intensified groundwork for Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), alignment mapping, land acquisition planning, and statutory approvals for all three corridors. According to officials, top-tier national and international consultancy firms are being engaged to ensure that design and execution meet global engineering standards.
The planning phase is being treated as time-bound and mission-driven, with administrative simplifications introduced to ensure faster on-ground execution once approvals are in place.

Industrial and Agricultural Transformation at the Core
The new corridors are expected to act as economic catalysts by promoting:
- Logistics and warehousing hubs
- New industrial zones along highway stretches
- Improved connectivity to agricultural mandis
- Faster north–south inter-district travel
- Enhanced trade movement across Bihar
Officials emphasized that the corridors are being designed as expressway and four-lane standard highways, enabling high-speed traffic movement and long-term commercial development along their routes.
Corridor 1: Vishwamitra Path (Buxar–Ara–Maner–Ganga Path)
Spanning approximately 90 kilometers, the Vishwamitra Path will serve as a critical high-speed link connecting western Bihar to the state capital.
Key highlights:
- Direct connectivity from Buxar to Patna region
- Expected to reduce travel time significantly
- Designed to integrate with major traffic flow from eastern Uttar Pradesh
- Will ease pressure on existing highways and regional roads
Officials say this corridor will become a key feeder route for economic integration between western and central Bihar.
Corridor 2: Ganga-Ambika Path (Dighwara–Usri Ganga Route)
The 56-kilometer Ganga-Ambika Path is planned as a parallel corridor along the Ganga river, primarily strengthening connectivity in the Saran region.
Key highlights:
- Strengthens north–south Bihar trade routes
- Enhances regional mobility along river belt areas
- Expected to support local commerce and small industries
- Provides a crucial alternate route for freight movement
The project is expected to significantly improve transportation efficiency in the riverine belt of Bihar.
Corridor 3: Narayani Path (Darihara–Dumaria Ghat)
The 73.51-kilometer Narayani Path, also referred to as the Gorakhpur–Gopalganj connectivity corridor, aims to strengthen access to northwestern Bihar.
Key highlights:
- Connects Gandak river economic zones
- Improves access for Gopalganj and surrounding districts
- Designed to support freight and agricultural transport
- Enhances cross-district industrial connectivity
Officials believe this corridor will unlock new development potential in Bihar’s northwestern belt.
Technical Bids and Project Timeline
The government has set June 24, 2026 as the final date for submission of technical proposals. Once this phase is completed, land surveying and final DPR preparation are expected to accelerate rapidly.
Authorities have confirmed that the entire process is being strictly monitored to ensure timely execution and minimal delays.
Vision for a Transformed Bihar
The Bihar government’s infrastructure strategy focuses on building a modern road network that can support industrial expansion, agricultural efficiency, and urban-rural integration.
Once completed, the three super corridors are expected to:
- Reduce travel times across key regions
- Boost investment in logistics and manufacturing
- Strengthen agricultural supply chains
- Improve regional connectivity and mobility
Officials describe the initiative as a “transformational leap” that could redefine Bihar’s development trajectory in the coming years.
