A new Chief Minister has been elected by the winning party’s MLAs in Madhya Pradesh, after Assembly Election 2023. But since the election results came out on December 3, many bureaucrats have been planning to go on leave, and some have already gone.

Collectors of many districts of Madhya Pradesh are on leave to overcome election fatigue. Some are going on short-term leave. This came to public notice, when Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anupam Rajan held video conferencing (VC) on Friday, 8 December.

On the other hand, amidst the preparations for the formation of the new government and administrative gathering, many bureaucrats are preparing to go on tours within the country and abroad as well. In such a situation, the responsibilities assigned to these officers by the state government will remain in the hands of the in-charges all throughout the leave period.

In the video conference, information about suggestions and complaints was sought from the collectors of the districts. In place of those collectors who had already proceeded on leave, Additional Collectors, CEOs of District Panchayat and Municipal Corporation Commissioners presented their views as representatives of the collectors.

The collectors, whose names have appeared among the officers who went on leave after continuous election work for about 3 months, are Rewa’s IAS Pratibha Pal, Satna’s IAS Anurag Verma, Sagar’s IAS Deepak Arya, Shahdol’s IAS Vandana Sharma and Jabalpur’s IAS Kumar Saurabh.
