New Delhi: The central government has approved key appointments and tenure extensions involving senior officers, with the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) clearing proposals related to IRS officer Satyajit Mohanty and IAS officer Himani Pande. The decisions, formalised through orders issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), reflect continuity in crucial administrative roles across departments.
Satyajit Mohanty’s Deputation Extended
Satyajit Mohanty (IRS-C&IT: 1999), currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Defence, has been granted a one-year extension in his central deputation tenure.
According to the DoPT order issued on April 18, 2026, the ACC has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Defence to extend his tenure beyond July 9, 2026, for a period of one year or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
This extension ensures continuity in a key position within the Department of Defence, where Mohanty has been handling important administrative responsibilities.

Himani Pande’s Upgraded Post Extended
Himani Pande (IAS: 1998: Jharkhand cadre), currently serving in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has also received an extension.
The ACC has approved the continuation of the temporary upgradation of her post from Joint Secretary level to Additional Secretary level.
As per the DoPT notification, the extension will remain valid up to April 18, 2027.
Role in DPIIT
Himani Pande is presently holding the upgraded Additional Secretary-level position in DPIIT, a key department responsible for promoting industrial growth, investment facilitation, and internal trade policies in India.
The extension of her upgraded role indicates the government’s confidence in her administrative leadership in handling critical portfolios.

Both decisions were approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet and communicated through formal orders issued by the Department of Personnel and Training on April 18, 2026.
