Raipur: The Chhattisgarh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan, has approved several major decisions covering agriculture, energy, transport, mining, and public welfare. The meeting focused on long-term development, transparency, and improving service delivery across the state.
Among the key decisions were approval for 240 electric buses, a new version of the Krishak Unnati Yojana, continuation of chana distribution under the Public Distribution System (PDS), the IPO of the state power transmission company, and reforms in mineral transportation and governance.
₹15,000 Per Acre Assistance Under New Krishak Unnati Yojana
The Cabinet approved the revised Krishak Unnati Yojana, effective from Kharif 2026, aimed at reducing dependency on paddy cultivation and promoting crop diversification.
Under the scheme, farmers shifting from paddy to other crops will receive ₹15,000 per acre assistance. The scheme covers crops such as:
- Pulses and oilseeds
- Maize
- Kodo, Kutki and Ragi
- Cotton
The government said the initiative will promote sustainable agriculture, improve income levels, and encourage water conservation.
The benefits will be distributed through a digital system using the integrated farmer portal, AgriStack registration, and digital crop surveys.
IPO Approved for State Power Transmission Company
The Cabinet granted in-principle approval to list the Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company Limited (CSPTCL) on the stock exchange through an IPO.
Officials said the move will:
- Improve financial transparency
- Enable public participation in the company’s growth
- Strengthen investment capacity
The company’s board has been authorized to complete all necessary procedures.
PDS Chana Distribution Extended for Food Security
The government approved the continuation of chana distribution under the Public Distribution System (PDS) for the financial year 2026–27.
Chana procurement will be carried out through the NeML e-auction platform with a service charge of up to 0.25%. The existing arrangement has also been extended for three months from April to June 2026.
The decision ensures continued nutritional support for eligible families across the state.
240 Electric Buses to Transform Urban Transport
Under the PM E-Bus Seva Yojana, the Cabinet approved the operational framework for 240 electric buses in:
- Raipur
- Durg-Bhilai
- Bilaspur
- Korba
The buses will operate under a payment security mechanism, helping improve public transport while reducing pollution and fuel dependency.
Yoga Shifted to Medical Education Department
The Cabinet approved the transfer of yoga-related functions from the Social Welfare Department to the Medical Education Department.
The government said the decision will integrate yoga with healthcare and improve training, research, and academic coordination in the field of wellness and AYUSH systems.
Stamp Duty Relief Extended for Nava Raipur Development
The Cabinet extended stamp duty exemption for the Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Development Authority until March 31, 2028.
This decision is expected to accelerate land acquisition, infrastructure development, and investment activity in the new capital region.
Strong Measures Against Illegal Mining
Major amendments were approved in the Chhattisgarh Minor Mineral Rules, 2009 to enhance transparency in mining operations.
Key reforms include:
- Mandatory RFID tags for mineral transport vehicles
- GPS-based tracking systems
- Modern technology for quantity and grade assessment
The government said these measures will help curb illegal mining, transportation, and storage.
Security deposits and storage fees have also been revised, while ease-of-doing-business provisions allow licence flexibility for operators.
Digital Monitoring to Strengthen Governance
Officials said the new mining reforms will ensure real-time monitoring and reduce illegal activities. The use of digital tracking systems will improve accountability and transparency in mineral transport.
