Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Saturday emphasized that workers are the true builders of society, as they form the foundation of national development through their hard work and dedication.
He was addressing a felicitation ceremony organized by the Labour Department at the New Circuit House in Raipur, where meritorious students from worker families were honored under the Mukhyamantri Noni-Babu Medhavi Shiksha Sahayata Yojana.
22 Meritorious Students Honoured with ₹2 Lakh Each
During the event, the Chief Minister felicitated 22 students who secured top ranks in the Class 10 and 12 board examinations conducted by the Chhattisgarh Board.
Key highlights:
- 9 students from Class 10
- 13 students from Class 12
- Each student received ₹2 lakh as incentive support
- Students represented multiple districts including Raipur, Durg, Raigarh, Bastar region, and others
CM Sai said the achievement reflects not only the students’ dedication but also the sacrifices of their families.
₹7.79 Crore Direct Benefit Transfer to Over 28,000 Workers
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also transferred ₹7.79 crore directly into the bank accounts of 28,754 registered construction workers under various welfare schemes through DBT.
The assistance was provided under schemes including:
- Free uniform and book assistance
- Mini Mata Maternity Scheme
- Noni Sashaktikaran Assistance Scheme
- Student scholarship schemes
- Tool assistance scheme for workers
- Bicycle assistance scheme
- Pension support schemes
Workers Described as “Real Builders of the Nation”
CM Sai said workers play a crucial role in nation-building and are the real architects of society.
He added that the government is committed to ensuring:
- Social security for worker families
- Financial support from birth to old age
- Better education opportunities for their children
He urged workers to actively benefit from government schemes and spread awareness among others.
Government Runs Around 70 Welfare Schemes for Workers
The Chief Minister informed that the state government is operating nearly 70 welfare schemes for labour families.
These schemes aim to provide:
- Financial assistance
- Education support
- Healthcare benefits
- Social security coverage
He said the objective is to ensure no eligible worker family is left behind.
Focus on Education: Doctors, Engineers and Officers from Worker Families
CM Sai said the government’s vision is to ensure that children of workers do not remain limited to labour work, but become:
- Doctors
- Engineers
- Scientists
- Administrators
- Professionals in key sectors
He stressed that education is the most powerful tool for transformation.
Welfare Schemes Improving Lives of Workers
Labour Minister Laxman Lal Devangan said the government is ensuring last-mile delivery of welfare schemes.
He highlighted that:
- Meritorious students receive financial incentives and vehicle assistance
- Free coaching and health support is being expanded
- Skill development initiatives are being strengthened
Environmental Initiative: ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’
On World Environment Day, CM Sai also participated in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ plantation campaign, planting a sapling and urging citizens to contribute to environmental protection.
He appealed to people to plant trees in the name of their mothers and make the initiative a mass movement.
