Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has conducted a high-level review meeting on preparations for the Kharif 2026 season, keeping in mind the possibility of below-normal rainfall. The government has announced major decisions related to fertilizer supply, irrigation, water conservation, scientific farming, and rural employment to safeguard farmers’ interests.
The Chief Minister assured that the state will not compromise on farmers’ welfare and has prepared a comprehensive action plan covering all critical agricultural needs.
46,000 Tonnes of DAP Fertilizer Ensured for Farmers
The state government confirmed that more than 46,000 tonnes of DAP fertilizer has been made available to Chhattisgarh after coordination with the central government. This is higher than normal supply levels and is expected to ensure smooth availability during the Kharif season.

- Crackdown on black marketing and hoarding
These steps aim to prevent any disruption in agricultural activities during the sowing season.
Focus on Scientific and Modern Farming Practices

Key farming practices to be promoted include:
- Short and medium-duration paddy varieties
- Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) method
- Row-based sowing techniques
- Seed treatment methods
- Soil moisture conservation practices
He also instructed officials to expand awareness of scientific farming through agricultural universities and Krishi Vigyan Kendras.
Water Conservation and “Moor Gaon Moor Pani” Campaign

The Chief Minister directed priority action on:

These measures aim to improve water availability and reduce dependency on rainfall.
125 Days of Rural Employment Under VB-G Ram Ji Scheme

Under the scheme:
- Employment increased from 100 to 125 days
- Daily wage fixed at ₹300 per day
- Focus on water conservation and natural resource development works
The initiative is expected to provide both livelihood support and long-term environmental benefits.
Weather Awareness and Farmer Safety Measures
To ensure timely weather-related alerts, the state government has instructed widespread promotion of IMD mobile applications such as:
- ‘Sachet’
- ‘Damini’
- ‘Meghdoot’
These apps will help farmers receive real-time updates on weather conditions, lightning alerts, and agricultural advisories.
Strengthening Scientific Advisory for Farmers
CM Sai also directed officials to ensure wider dissemination of agricultural university bulletins and expert advisories. The aim is to provide farmers with accurate, timely, and practical guidance to minimize risks from unpredictable rainfall patterns.
Chhattisgarh’s proactive approach for the Kharif 2026 season reflects a strong focus on farmer welfare, climate resilience, and rural development. With assured fertilizer supply, modern farming techniques, water conservation efforts, and expanded rural employment, the state aims to mitigate the impact of potential low rainfall and ensure agricultural stability.
