Lucknow: The 110th birth anniversary of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya, the propounder of ‘Antyodaya’ and ‘Integral Humanism’, was observed on Friday, with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paying floral tribute to his portrait at his official residence in Lucknow.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the life, philosophy and contributions of the prominent nationalist thinker and founding member of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh through a post on social media platform X.
CM Yogi Pays Tribute to Deendayal Upadhyaya
On the occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath offered his respects to Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya and recalled his contribution to public life and political thought.
In his message, the Chief Minister described Upadhyaya as the propounder of ‘Integral Humanism’ and ‘Antyodaya’, while remembering him as a prominent nationalist thinker and one of the founding members of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh.

The tribute focused particularly on Upadhyaya’s development philosophy, which placed the welfare and upliftment of the most deprived sections of society at its centre.

According to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya presented a concept of development rooted in Indian culture and life values.
The philosophy gave the highest priority to the upliftment of the person standing in the last row of society.
The Chief Minister said this approach reflected the central idea of Antyodaya — ensuring that development and welfare reach those at the bottom of the social and economic pyramid.
Integral Humanism and Antyodaya
Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya’s ideas of Integral Humanism and Antyodaya have remained central themes in discussions around his political and social philosophy.
Integral Humanism sought to view development through an integrated understanding of the individual, society and the larger human community, while Antyodaya emphasised the upliftment of the last person in society.
Remembering these ideas on his 110th birth anniversary, the Chief Minister linked Upadhyaya’s philosophy with the broader objective of building a country that is inclusive and self-reliant.
‘Source of Inspiration for Viksit Bharat’
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that the thought of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya continues to inspire efforts towards building an inclusive, self-reliant and Viksit Bharat.
His message underlined the continuing relevance of the philosophy associated with Upadhyaya, particularly the emphasis on ensuring that development reaches the most vulnerable sections of society.
The birth anniversary observance in Lucknow thus focused on remembering Upadhyaya’s contribution to Indian political thought and his emphasis on placing the welfare of the last person at the centre of the development process.
