What is the Adani ARYAN 52 Mounted Gun System

The ARYAN 52 is a modern self-propelled mounted artillery system developed by Adani Defence & Aerospace.

The system combines:

  • A 155mm/52-calibre artillery gun
  • A highly mobile truck chassis
  • Armored crew protection
  • Automated fire-control features
  • Rapid deployment capability

According to reports, the platform is based on proven ATMOS artillery technology while incorporating significant local manufacturing and Indian components.

What is the Importance of Adani ARYAN 52 Mounted Gun System

Modern warfare increasingly demands artillery systems that can move quickly after firing.

Traditional towed guns require:

  • Longer deployment time
  • Larger crews
  • More logistics support

Mounted gun systems solve these issues by allowing troops to:

  • Fire quickly
  • Relocate immediately
  • Reduce vulnerability to enemy counter-battery fire

This tactic is commonly known as “shoot and scoot.” The ARYAN 52 is specifically designed for this operational requirement.

Indian Army’s Massive Mounted Gun Requirement

The Indian Army is pursuing the Field Artillery Rationalisation Plan (FARP) to replace older artillery systems and standardize its gun inventory.

Under current plans:

  • Around 814 Mounted Gun Systems are expected to be acquired.
  • The guns must be 155mm/52-calibre.
  • Required range exceeds 38 km.
  • The maximum weight requirement is around 30 tonnes.

The project is expected to be worth more than ₹15,000 crore, making it one of the largest artillery procurements in India.

Competition Will Be Intense

While ARYAN 52 has cleared an important milestone, it still faces strong competition.
