New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday conducted a surprise inspection of the Revenue Department’s e-Sub Registrar Office VI-A (Model Town/Pitampura) and VI-C (Rohini), operating from Ambedkar Bhawan in Sector 16, Rohini. During the visit, she reviewed infrastructure conditions, citizen services, cleanliness, and record management systems.
Poor Infrastructure and Civic Facilities Raise Concerns
During the inspection, the Chief Minister expressed strong displeasure over the poor condition of the office premises. She noted issues including:
- Dilapidated building structure
- Poor lighting arrangements
- Non-functional air conditioners
- Broken flooring
- Unclean toilets
- Lack of adequate seating space
- Poor maintenance and administrative negligence
She stated that such conditions are unacceptable in offices where large numbers of citizens visit daily for important property and documentation-related work.
CM Interacts with Citizens, Hears Complaints
Rekha Gupta also interacted with citizens present at the office and listened to their grievances. Many visitors complained about:
- Long waiting hours
- Lack of seating arrangements
- Absence of a proper token system
- Poor air-conditioning
- Overall shortage of basic facilities
The Chief Minister assured that ensuring a comfortable and dignified environment for citizens in government offices is the administration’s responsibility.
One-Week Deadline for Immediate Improvements
The Chief Minister directed officials to complete all repair and improvement works within one week and submit a detailed report.
She also instructed that regular monitoring must be ensured to prevent further negligence and improve service delivery.
Concerns Over Record Management and Digitisation
During the inspection, Rekha Gupta also reviewed the condition of the record room and expressed concern over document safety and storage practices. She emphasized the need for:
- Proper preservation of records
- Faster digitisation of documents
- Strengthening of archival systems
She said these steps are essential for transparency and efficient governance.
Zero Tolerance for Negligence and Delay
The Chief Minister made it clear that negligence, corruption, or delays in work will not be tolerated. She stated that government offices exist to serve citizens, not to inconvenience them.
She further instructed officials to ensure long-term maintenance and continuous monitoring of public service offices.
