In an unprecedented bureaucratic shake-up, 75 IPS officers including 30 senior ones, stationed in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir have been transferred from their present postings. This move succeeds a circular issued by the UT’s Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Home Department, R K Goyal, on January 28th.
Among those who got transferred, the names of: an officer of Director General rank; three Additional Director General of Police (ADGPs); nine Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs); no fewer than 62 Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) have been mentioned!
DGP PRISON SHIFTED:
Senior bureaucrat Deepak Kumar (IPS) has been posted as Director General of Prisons. Officer S J M Gillani (ADGP) shall take charge as the ADGP of Railways. Officer Vijay Kumar, ADGP of Law and Order, has been instructed to lead the Armed and Commandant General of Home Guards and SDRF in addition to his existing duties till further orders.
The new SSPs:
IPS Officers Yougal Kumar, Vinay Kumar, Abdul Qayoom, and Javid Iqbal have been posted as the new SSPs of Poonch, Samba, Kishtwar and Pulwama districts. At the same time, other IPS officers Sandeep Gupta, Shobhit Saxena, P D Nitya, Anuj Kumar, and Mohita Sharma shall assume office as the SSPs of Ganderbal, Kupwara, Doda, Ramban and Reasi districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Six Range DIGs:
Officer Sunil Gupta, the incumbent DIG of the Jammu-Samba-Kathua range, has been instructed to take additional charge as the DIG of the Rajouri-Poonch range. Officer Rayees Mohammad Bhat was posted as the DIG of the Udhampur-Reasi range, and Officer Shridhar Patil assumed office as the DIG of the Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range. Officer Altaf Ahmad Khan, apart from being posted as the DIG of the South Kashmir range, has also been bestowed with the additional responsibility of the DIG of the Central Kashmir range. As per the ACS’ order, all these six range DIGs were reshuffled, excluding those in north Kashmir.
