Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has given in-principle approval for the establishment of a dedicated residential school for the children of martyred police personnel and security forces. The proposed institution will be developed in Ranchi at the Tendargram campus of the Jharkhand Jaguar Camp, marking a significant step toward welfare support for families of fallen personnel.
The project, estimated at ₹22 crore, has been initiated under the guidance of Chief Minister Hemant Soren and is now awaiting final approval from the departmental authorization committee before being placed before the state cabinet.
School Named After Shibu Soren
The proposed institution will be named “Dishom Guru Shibu Soren Residential School”, honoring veteran tribal leader Shibu Soren.
The school is being developed as a model residential institution on the lines of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan framework.
Academic Structure: Classes 1 to 12
The residential school will offer education from Class 1 to Class 12, with a structured residential system:
- Class 1 to 5: Only day schooling (no hostel facility)
- Class 6 to 12: Fully residential with hostel accommodation
The initiative aims to ensure uninterrupted education for children of martyrs with free schooling, boarding, and lodging facilities.
Modern Infrastructure and Facilities
The school will be equipped with “state-of-the-art” infrastructure designed to support holistic education and development. Planned facilities include:
- Smart classrooms and ICT-enabled learning labs
- Science and mathematics laboratories
- Library and digital learning resources
- Multipurpose hall and dedicated sports ground
- Separate sick rooms, activity rooms, and staff common areas
- Separate canteens for boys and girls
The campus will also emphasize safety, discipline, and a structured learning environment.
Focus on Skill Development
Beyond academic learning, the school will prioritize skill development and practical training. A dedicated skill laboratory will be set up within the campus to prepare students for modern employment opportunities and vocational careers.
Officials stated that the aim is to ensure that children not only receive formal education but also develop real-world skills for long-term self-reliance.
Residential Facilities for Staff
The six-acre campus will also include residential quarters for faculty and staff:
- 8 two-bedroom flats for teachers
- 12 one-bedroom units for staff members
- Separate official residence for the principal
Additionally, separate multi-storey hostels will be constructed for boys and girls.
Next Steps for Project Approval
After receiving departmental clearance, the proposal will be submitted to the state cabinet for final approval. Once sanctioned, construction work will begin on the campus in Ranchi.
Officials have indicated that the project is part of a broader effort to strengthen educational support systems for families of martyred security personnel across Jharkhand.
