No Medicines or Equipment Purchased for Khajrana Civil Hospital Yet, Says Indore Administration; Land Transfer Delays Project

Indore administration clarifies that the Khajrana Civil Hospital project is delayed due to pending land transfer and no medicines or equipment have been purchased yet.
Indian Masterminds Stories

Indore, MP: The Indore district administration has issued a detailed clarification regarding reports circulating in the media about the proposed 100-bed Civil Hospital at Khajrana, stating that the project has not progressed because the Health Department is yet to receive possession of the land earmarked for the hospital. The administration also clarified that no medicines, medical equipment or other materials have been purchased for the proposed hospital, while staff sanctioned for the facility are currently serving at other government health institutions in the public interest.

The clarification was issued after Collector Shivam Verma sought a detailed factual report from the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) following media reports concerning the hospital project.

Land Transfer Delay Holding Up Construction

According to the district administration, a 0.700-hectare land parcel, part of Survey No. 435/1/1 in Khajrana village, had earlier been allotted to the Health Department for constructing the proposed 100-bed Civil Hospital.

However, although the land has been allocated on paper, the Health Department has not yet received physical possession or formal transfer of the land.

The administration stated that the land is presently under the use of the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC), making it impossible to begin construction of the hospital building.

As a result, the project remains stalled despite the earlier sanction for establishing the hospital.

Collector Assures Early Resolution

During a review meeting held on July 6, Collector Shivam Verma assured the Chief Medical and Health Officer that necessary steps would be taken to remove the encroachment or existing occupation from the allotted land and facilitate its transfer to the Health Department.

Once the land is formally handed over, the remaining legal and administrative formalities related to land allotment will be completed, following which the proposal for administrative approval of the hospital building will be processed.

The administration clarified that no administrative approval has yet been issued for constructing the hospital building. Consequently, construction work cannot commence until these approvals are granted.

87 Posts Sanctioned, Staff Currently Serving Elsewhere

The administration also addressed concerns regarding appointments made for the proposed hospital.

According to the CMHO, the Public Health and Family Welfare Department of the Madhya Pradesh Governmentsanctioned 87 posts for the Khajrana Civil Hospital in 2021.

Against these sanctioned posts, the following personnel have been appointed so far:

  • 29 Staff Nurses
  • 5 Pharmacists
  • 1 Laboratory Technician

Since the hospital building has not yet been constructed and the institution is not operational, these employees are currently deployed at various government hospitals and health facilities across Indore.

The administration stated that the deployment was made in the larger public interest, particularly in view of the increased demand for healthcare services after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Officials clarified that these employees continue to perform regular duties at their respective institutions, where their services have been officially certified by the heads of those hospitals, and they are receiving salaries as per government rules.

No Doctors Posted for the Hospital

The district administration also clarified another issue raised in media reports.

According to the CMHO, no orders have been issued at any level regarding the posting of doctors for the proposed Khajrana Civil Hospital.

The administration emphasized that reports suggesting doctors had already been posted to the non-functional hospital are factually incorrect.

No Medicines or Medical Equipment Purchased

Rejecting reports suggesting financial expenditure on the proposed hospital, the administration categorically stated that:

  • No medicines have been purchased
  • No medical equipment has been procured
  • No furniture or other hospital materials have been bought
  • No financial allocation has been received from higher authorities for these purposes

The administration said that all claims regarding purchases made in the name of the hospital are incorrect.

Hospital Project to Follow Government Procedures

The district administration reiterated that every stage of the project will be executed strictly in accordance with government rules and prescribed procedures.

Officials clarified that further action regarding construction of the proposed 100-bed Civil Hospital will begin only after:

  • The land is formally transferred to the Health Department.
  • Administrative approval for construction of the building is granted.
  • Necessary financial sanctions are received.

Only after completion of these processes will the hospital project move to the construction stage.

Collector Appeals Against Misinformation

Collector Shivam Verma said the administration has placed the factual position before the public to dispel misinformation surrounding the proposed hospital.

He appealed to citizens to rely only on official information released by the district administration instead of unverified or misleading reports circulating through various media platforms.

According to the administration, the Khajrana Civil Hospital project remains under the planning stage, and no operational activities—including procurement of equipment, deployment of doctors or commencement of construction—have taken place so far.
