Nashik: Maharashtra Director General of Police (DGP) Sadanand Date, an IPS officer of 1990 batch, on Tuesday called upon 583 newly commissioned Police Sub-Inspectors (PSIs) to continuously upgrade their technological skills and knowledge to effectively tackle the rapidly evolving challenges of cybercrime and economic offences.

Addressing the Passing-Out Parade of the 127th Batch of PSI Cadets at the Maharashtra Police Academy (MPA), Nashik, Date emphasized that policing in the digital era demands constant learning, technological adaptability, and proactive engagement with emerging threats.

The ceremony marked the successful completion of a rigorous one-year training programme for 583 future police officers who are now set to join the Maharashtra Police force.

DGP Emphasises Need for Continuous Learning

Speaking as the chief guest, DGP Date highlighted how technological advancements have transformed the nature of crime, making cyber and financial offences among the most significant challenges facing law enforcement agencies today.

“Rapid technological advancements have led to a proportional rise in cyber and financial offences. To effectively combat these challenges, there is a need for police personnel to stay updated with modern tools and continuously acquire new knowledge even after completing their formal training,” Date said.

He urged the young officers to view learning as a lifelong process and remain prepared to adapt to evolving criminal methodologies.
