Bhopal/Jabalpur: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav paid rich tribute to the legendary warrior queen Rani Durgavati on her 463rd martyrdom day, describing her as a symbol of “indomitable courage, unmatched valor, and bravery.”
The Chief Minister was addressing a commemorative programme held at Narrai Nala in Jabalpur, where he also offered floral tributes at the memorial site of Rani Durgavati and honored other martyrs, including Veer Narayan. He also performed rituals at the revered tribal deity “Bada Dev” and visited an exhibition organized on the occasion.
Jabalpur Airport to Be Named After Rani Durgavati
During the event, CM Dr. Yadav announced that the state government will send a proposal to the Central Civil Aviation Ministry to rename Jabalpur Airport after Rani Durgavati, recognizing her legacy and contribution to Indian history.
He also highlighted that several other institutions and projects are being developed in her honor across Madhya Pradesh.
₹100 Crore Institute Dedicated to Rani Durgavati in Jabalpur
The Chief Minister informed that a new institute dedicated to Rani Durgavati is being developed near Madan Mahal in Jabalpur at a cost of ₹100 crore. The facility is expected to be inaugurated soon and will help future generations learn about her life, governance, and contributions.
Additionally:
- A zoo and wildlife rescue center is being developed in Jabalpur in her name
- The 35th Battalion in Mandla has been renamed after Rani Durgavati
- Several heritage-focused initiatives are underway under the “Virasat Se Vikas” vision
Tribute to Rani Durgavati’s Governance and Legacy
CM Dr. Yadav highlighted that Rani Durgavati ruled the Gondwana kingdom, which he described as a “golden era” of governance. She is remembered for:
- Managing 52 forts of the Gondwana empire
- Promoting agriculture and water conservation
- Introducing grain storage and crop rotation systems
- Supporting public welfare even after taking responsibility as a regent for her young son
He said her administrative vision continues to inspire modern governance and rural development policies.
Government Focus on Farmers and Rural Development
The Chief Minister also outlined several welfare measures for farmers and rural communities, including:
- Removal of strict loan repayment deadlines for farmers
- One-year flexible loan repayment system
- ₹880 crore financial support to lending institutions
- Four times compensation for land acquisition
- Continued benefits under crop and agricultural welfare schemes
He emphasized that the government is fully committed to farmer welfare, rural development, and infrastructure expansion.
Tribute from Ministers and Leaders
State PHE Minister Sampatiya Uikey, Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh, and BJP State President Hemant Khandelwal also addressed the gathering.
They praised Rani Durgavati’s contributions to water management, agriculture, and tribal pride, and called for preserving indigenous culture, language, and traditions. Leaders emphasized that her life symbolizes sacrifice for dignity, self-respect, and national pride.
Government’s Vision for Tribal and Cultural Heritage
Speakers highlighted that both the central and state governments are working to promote tribal welfare, cultural preservation, and inclusive development. They also mentioned initiatives such as:
- Strengthening tribal education and health infrastructure
- Promoting water conservation and forest protection
- Supporting traditional livelihoods and cultural identity
- Encouraging youth to learn from historical heroes
CM Pays Tribute at Martyr’s Memorial
At the beginning of the programme, CM Dr. Yadav offered tributes at Rani Durgavati’s memorial site and also paid respects at the statue of Veer Narayan. He later visited exhibitions showcasing the life and legacy of tribal heroes.
