India’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, an IPS officer of 1968 batch from Kerala Cadre, has announced key appointments in the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), reinforcing the team with seasoned officials to bolster India’s strategic capabilities.
TV Ravichandran, a distinguished 1990 batch IPS officer currently serving as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau, has been appointed as one of the new Deputy NSAs. Known for his expertise in intelligence operations, Ravichandran’s appointment underscores the focus on internal security and counter-terrorism efforts.
Joining him is Pawan Kapoor, a seasoned 1990 batch IFS officer with a rich background in international diplomacy. Kapoor has served in pivotal roles at the Ministry of External Affairs and the Prime Minister’s Office, besides his tenure as an international civil servant at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London. His appointment signifies the emphasis on enhancing India’s global strategic engagements.
Meanwhile, Rajendra Khanna, the outgoing Deputy NSA, has been elevated to the role of Additional NSA, recognizing his contributions to national security during his tenure.
These appointments come amidst a series of strategic realignments within the NSCS, including the recent appointment of Vikram Misri as the new Foreign Secretary, reflecting a coordinated effort to strengthen India’s foreign policy and national security architecture.
NSA Ajit Doval, appointed for the third term by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, continues to play a pivotal role in shaping India’s security policies. A veteran IPS officer with a distinguished career, Doval has been conferred with the rank of Cabinet Minister, highlighting his pivotal role in national security decision-making.
