Punjab Govt Releases ₹35.50 Crore Financial Aid for 2.36 Lakh Vulnerable Children Under Welfare Scheme

Chandigarh: Reaffirming its commitment to child welfare, the Punjab Government has released ₹35.50 crore as financial assistance for dependent and vulnerable children for the month of March in the financial year 2026–27. The support will benefit over 2.36 lakh children across the state.

₹432.78 Crore Budget Allocated for Child Welfare Schemes

State Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Baljit Kaur announced that the government has earmarked a total budget of ₹432.78 crore for 2026–27 to ensure uninterrupted financial support under child welfare schemes.

She said the allocation reflects the government’s sustained focus on protecting and supporting vulnerable sections of society.

Support Aimed at Education and Healthcare of Children

The financial assistance is aimed at ensuring:

  • Continuation of education
  • Access to healthcare
  • Overall child development

The scheme benefits children below 21 years of age who have lost parents, have missing parents, or belong to families unable to support them due to physical or mental incapacity.

Welfare Scheme to Ensure Secure Future for Children

Minister Baljit Kaur emphasized that the initiative is not just financial aid but a long-term social security measure designed to secure the future of dependent children.

She said the support helps ensure that no child is deprived of basic opportunities due to financial hardship.

Government Focus on Inclusive and Compassionate Development

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government continues to implement people-centric welfare policies focused on:

  • Social security strengthening
  • Child protection
  • Inclusive development
  • Equal opportunities for all children

Aim to Build a Safe and Progressive Punjab

The government reiterated its vision of building a safe, inclusive and progressive Punjab, where every child gets equal opportunities to grow, learn, and contribute to society.

Officials said continuous efforts are being made to improve the reach and effectiveness of welfare schemes across the state.
