Chandigarh: Reaffirming its commitment to child welfare, the Punjab Government has released ₹35.50 crore as financial assistance for dependent and vulnerable children for the month of March in the financial year 2026–27. The support will benefit over 2.36 lakh children across the state.
₹432.78 Crore Budget Allocated for Child Welfare Schemes
State Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Baljit Kaur announced that the government has earmarked a total budget of ₹432.78 crore for 2026–27 to ensure uninterrupted financial support under child welfare schemes.
She said the allocation reflects the government’s sustained focus on protecting and supporting vulnerable sections of society.

Support Aimed at Education and Healthcare of Children
The financial assistance is aimed at ensuring:
- Continuation of education
- Access to healthcare
- Overall child development
The scheme benefits children below 21 years of age who have lost parents, have missing parents, or belong to families unable to support them due to physical or mental incapacity.

Minister Baljit Kaur emphasized that the initiative is not just financial aid but a long-term social security measure designed to secure the future of dependent children.
She said the support helps ensure that no child is deprived of basic opportunities due to financial hardship.
