Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday handed over appointment letters to 307 newly selected candidates during a formal ceremony held at the Chief Sevak Sadan in the Chief Minister’s Camp Office.
The newly appointed candidates include 243 medical officers, 42 pharmacists, and 22 personnel from the horticulture department such as laboratory assistants and mushroom supervisors.
CM Dhami congratulated all selected candidates and said that the appointment letters are not just documents of employment but a “pledge of service” to the people of Uttarakhand.
Healthcare Workforce Key to Serving Remote Himalayan Regions
Highlighting the geographical challenges of Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister emphasized the crucial role of healthcare workers in the state.
He stated that in remote and mountainous areas, health professionals are often the first and most important support system for citizens during emergencies.
He urged newly appointed medical officers and healthcare staff to perform their duties with sensitivity, dedication, and a strong sense of service.
Strengthening Health Infrastructure Under PM Modi’s Leadership
CM Dhami noted that the state government is continuously working to strengthen healthcare services under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He highlighted the impact of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, under which millions of families have benefited from cashless treatment.
According to the Chief Minister:
- Over 62 lakh Ayushman cards have been distributed in Uttarakhand
- Around 12 lakh patients have received cashless treatment
- More than ₹2,200 crore has been spent on healthcare support under the scheme
Expansion of Medical Colleges and Advanced Healthcare Facilities
The Chief Minister informed that Uttarakhand is rapidly expanding its medical education and healthcare infrastructure.
He said:
- 5 medical colleges are currently operational in the state
- 2 new medical colleges are under construction
- 9 nursing colleges and 3 nursing schools are functional
Super specialty services are being expanded in Dehradun, Haldwani, and Srinagar medical colleges. Additionally, a modern cancer institute in Haldwani is under construction.
To improve healthcare access in remote areas, telemedicine and heli-ambulance services are also being actively operated.
Focus on Agriculture, Horticulture, and Farmer Income Growth
CM Dhami also highlighted the government’s efforts to promote agriculture and horticulture-based livelihoods.
He said the state is encouraging high-value crops and allied activities such as:
- Kiwi cultivation
- Dragon fruit farming
- High-density apple orchards
- Mushroom production
- Beekeeping
These initiatives aim to increase farmers’ income and promote agricultural innovation in the hill state.
Transparent Recruitment and Anti-Cheating Law Ensuring Youth Employment
The Chief Minister reiterated that all recruitment processes in Uttarakhand are being conducted with complete transparency.
He pointed out that the state has implemented one of the strictest anti-cheating laws in the country to ensure fair examinations.
He added that over the last four and a half years, more than 32,000 youth have secured government jobs in the state.
Ministers Emphasize Strengthening Public Services
Agriculture and Horticulture Minister Ganesh Joshi said that several schemes such as high-density apple farming, kiwi mission, dragon fruit mission, beekeeping policy, and JICA-supported projects are being successfully implemented.
Health Minister Subodh Uniyal stated that the induction of new doctors and pharmacists will significantly strengthen healthcare services across Uttarakhand, especially in remote regions.
The appointment of 307 new healthcare and horticulture personnel marks a significant step toward strengthening Uttarakhand’s public service delivery system. The state government continues to focus on improving healthcare access, promoting agricultural innovation, and ensuring transparent recruitment for youth employment.
