Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved financial allocations worth ₹59.72 crore for multiple development projects aimed at strengthening infrastructure, drinking water supply, flood protection, and disaster management across the state.
These initiatives are expected to significantly benefit both urban and rural areas by improving essential services and ensuring better safety measures.
Major Allocations for Drinking Water Projects
A substantial portion of the budget has been directed toward enhancing drinking water facilities:
- ₹14.57 crore approved for the Tamli Gram Group Pumping Drinking Water Scheme in Champawat district
- ₹25.78 crore sanctioned for the Ukhimath Nagar Panchayat drinking water project
- ₹1.99 crore allocated for the Jamrani Dam-based Haldwani-Kathgodam drinking water scheme benefiting Haldwani and Bhimtal regions
These projects aim to ensure a consistent and safe water supply in key regions.
Focus on Flood Protection and Riverbank Safety
To mitigate flood risks and strengthen riverbank infrastructure, the government has sanctioned funds for several projects:
- ₹2.43 crore (first installment) for embankment construction along both sides of the Asan River in Harbhajwala, Dehradun
- ₹1.29 crore and ₹3.03 crore (first installments) for flood protection works along the Suswa River in Dharampur and the Bhagirathi River in Jhala village, Uttarkashi
- ₹1.84 crore for flood safety works in drains flowing through Defense Colony and Jogiwala-Badripur areas
- Additional funds allocated for slope protection and flood control projects in Pithoragarh, Haridwar, and Nainital
Infrastructure Boost in Hilly and Border Areas
Infrastructure development in remote and hilly regions has also received attention:
- ₹1.89 crore approved for safety works on the Harsil-Mukhwa motor road in Uttarkashi
- ₹1.74 crore sanctioned for reconstruction of a damaged pedestrian bridge on the Joshimath-Niti route in Chamoli
- Funds allocated for slope stabilization and disaster-resilient construction in vulnerable areas
Education Infrastructure Gets Support
The government has approved the construction of five new classrooms at PM Shri Adarsh Inter College in Bharadisain, Chamoli, enhancing educational infrastructure in the region.
Budget Allocation for Information Department and Welfare Schemes
The Chief Minister has also approved:
- ₹299.18 crore for the Information and Public Relations Department
- ₹1 crore for Scheduled Caste welfare
- ₹50 lakh for Tribal Sub-Plan initiatives
Additionally, proposals for the promotion of Assistant Directors Archana and Badri Chand to Deputy Director positions have been approved.
Strengthening Development and Disaster Preparedness
These approvals highlight the government’s focus on balanced regional development, improved public utilities, and enhanced disaster preparedness. The investments are expected to boost infrastructure resilience, especially in flood-prone and mountainous regions of Uttarakhand.
