He emphasized that education, healthcare, and road connectivity remain the core focus areas of the state government in hilly terrain, where accessibility and infrastructure development are critical for growth.
Environment Protection and Forest Fire Awareness
The Chief Minister also highlighted Uttarakhand’s commitment to environmental conservation, urging citizens to actively participate in preventing forest fires.
He appealed to people to immediately report even small signs of fire, stressing that timely action can protect forests, wildlife, and human lives.
Extending greetings on World Environment Day, CM Dhami said that Bhimtal’s natural beauty—including its lake, forests, and Himalayan landscape—must be preserved as both a cultural and ecological responsibility.
Development and Environment Must Go Together: CM Dhami
Quoting the broader vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, CM Dhami said that development and environmental protection are not opposing goals but complementary objectives.
He highlighted national initiatives such as Mission LiFE, which promotes sustainable living practices, and the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, encouraging citizens to plant trees in their mother’s name.
He urged every family in Uttarakhand to participate in the initiative and contribute to environmental preservation.
Reviving the Chipko Movement Spirit
Referring to the historic Chipko Movement, CM Dhami praised the role of Uttarakhand’s women, including environmental activist Gaura Devi, who led grassroots forest conservation efforts.
He said the movement demonstrated the power of collective action in protecting nature and called for reviving the same spirit in modern environmental conservation efforts.
The Chief Minister emphasized that environmental protection should once again become a mass movement driven by public participation.
Conclusion
The ₹96.71 crore development initiative reflects Uttarakhand’s dual focus on infrastructure growth and environmental sustainability. With projects spanning connectivity, religious tourism, administrative infrastructure, and ecological awareness, the government aims to strengthen both development outcomes and environmental responsibility in the region.
