Saharanpur Police’s Act of Humanity

Five people were killed in a tragic blast at a firecracker factory in Saharanpur, recently. The family of one victim, who wasn’t a resident of the village, had trouble getting him cremated due to a smaller number of people available. When the police found out about the matter, they immediately set out to help the family.

Besides handling the huge responsibility of maintaining law and order in a big state, the Uttar Pradesh police is also fulfilling the role of a friend in need through their deeds. While one team of Saharanpur police was busy figuring out what caused a blast in a firecracker factory in Sarsawa, the other team was busy setting an example of humanity.

In an exclusive conversation with Indian Masterminds, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Saharanpur, Akash Tomar, IPS, revealed his department’s humanitarian side.

FIVE KILLED IN BLAST

After a sudden blast occurred at a firecracker factory located in Sarsawa, Saharanpur, the police teams of the region reached the location and started investigating the case immediately. It was found that five people, including the owner of the factory, Rahul alias Jauni (32 years) were killed in the blast. The other four victims were – Sagar (22 years), Kartik (17 years), Vardhanpal (19 years), and Sumit (20 years).

The financial condition of all the four workers of the factory was very bad. All four were working in the factory to meet the family expenses. Of these, Sagar, Karthik, and Vardhanpal also used to bear the cost of their studies on their own.

A HELPING SHOULDER

“3 people died in the sad incident in the Sarsawa police station area itself, the other two dead people were the original residents of village Salempur. Vardhanpal, resident of village Salempur police station, Sarsawa was not a native of Saharanpur. He was a resident of the Bhainsi village of Khatauli in Muzaffarnagar,” Mr. Tomar shared with Indian Masterminds.

Since Vardhanpal was living away from home, there weren’t many people around to give a shoulder to his body. The people of the village had gone for the last rites of the other two victims from the village and only his father and brother were left behind to cremate the body.

According to Hindu rituals, at least five people are required to take a person on their final journey. When the police arrived at Vardhanpal’s home and noticed that there were only four people present at his home, they decided to take the noble step of helping the family members cremate the body.

“A tragic incident took place in the area, which also saddened the entire police fraternity of Saharanpur. During this time, the local police were ready to do anything possible to help the victim’s side, so we came forward to take this step and bring salvation to Vardhanpal’s departed soul,” Mr. Tomar told Indian Masterminds

This humane side of the Saharanpur police won everyone’s hearts and naturally strengthened people’s faith in the UP Police.
