Close on the heels of Election Commissioner Ashok Lavasa taking over as Vice President of Asian Development Bank (ADB), another key IAS officer Sameer Kumar Khare has received government’s nod to join as Executive Director of ADB. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Mr Khare as Executive Director of ADB, Manila.
He has been appointed to the post for a tenure of three years with effect from the date of assumption of the charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Khare is a 1989-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Assam cadre. He is currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs under Ministry of Finance.
Rajesh Khullar to be Excutive Director in World Bank
The government has also appointed Senior bureaucrat Rajesh Khullar as Executive Director, World Bank, Washington (DC) for a tenure of three years or till the date of his superannuation, i.e. August 31, 2023.
Mr Khullar is a 1988-batch Haryana Cadre IAS officer. Presently, he is serving as Principal Secretary to Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
As the executive director, Khullar will represent India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka at the World Bank.
The World Bank Group comprises 25 executive directors who represent a country, or constituency of countries, and they are either appointed or elected to the position.
