Hyderabad: In a significant administrative development, senior IPS officer C V Anand (IPS:1991:TG) is set to be appointed as the next Director General of Police (DGP) of Telangana, marking the end of a prolonged phase of interim leadership in the state police.
The transition comes as incumbent DGP B Shivadhar Reddy (IPS:1994:TG) is scheduled to retire on April 30, 2026. Official sources indicate that Anand is likely to assume charge in the first week of May.
Administrative Signals Clear Path for Elevation
Anand’s elevation to the top police post has been strongly indicated by recent bureaucratic reshuffles. The state government has already appointed Shikha Goel (IPS:1994:TG) as his successor in the Home Department, where she currently serves as Principal Secretary.
This move is widely seen as clearing the path for Anand’s appointment as the head of the Telangana Police.
