Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has carried out a fresh administrative reshuffle involving 10 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, making significant changes across district administration, tourism, transport, urban development, cooperative institutions, and municipal governance.
The transfer orders, issued by the state government, include the appointment of new District Collectors for Madurai and Sivaganga, changes in the leadership of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC), Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation, Co-optex, and several other important departments.
The reshuffle is aimed at strengthening administrative efficiency and ensuring effective governance across key sectors.
New Appointments in Transport and Mining Departments
One of the prominent changes involves T. Prabhushankar, who has been transferred from his position as Managing Director of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC).

He has now been appointed as Director of Geology and Mining, replacing D. Mohan.
In a reciprocal move, D. Mohan has been posted as the new Managing Director of MTC, taking charge of Chennai’s public transport corporation.
Tourism Department Gets New Director
V.P. Jeyaseelan, who was serving as Joint Commissioner (Health) in the Greater Chennai Corporation, has been transferred and appointed as the Director of Tourism.
He succeeds M.S. Shanmugam, who is set to retire on June 30.
Apart from heading the Tourism Department, Jeyaseelan will also serve as the Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC).
Changes in Co-optex and TUFIDCO
The government has appointed J. Innocent Divya as the new Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Handloom Weavers’ Cooperative Society (Co-optex).
She replaces Kavitha Ramu, who has been transferred and posted as Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (TUFIDCO).
The move places experienced officers in strategic roles linked to urban infrastructure development and the state’s handloom sector.
Urban Development and Greater Chennai Corporation Reassigned
In another important posting, P. Ramana Saraswathi, who was serving as Managing Director of Tamil Nadu FibreNet Corporation Limited, has been appointed as Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board.
She replaces Shreya P. Singh, who has been transferred and appointed as Joint Commissioner (Health), Greater Chennai Corporation.
The posting is expected to strengthen urban housing and development initiatives undertaken by the state government.
District Collectors of Madurai and Sivaganga Exchanged
The reshuffle also includes changes in district administration.
P. Akash, who was serving as District Collector of Madurai, has been transferred and appointed as District Collector of Sivaganga.
Meanwhile, Nishant Krishna, the outgoing District Collector of Sivaganga, has been posted as the new District Collector of Madurai.
The exchange of collectors is expected to bring fresh administrative perspectives to both districts.
New Posting in HR&CE Department
N. Ponmani, who was serving as Joint Commissioner of Commercial Taxes in Erode, has been transferred and posted as Additional Commissioner, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department, Tiruchi Region.
The appointment comes at a time when the HR&CE Department continues to oversee temple administration and religious institutions across the state.
Focus on Administrative Efficiency
The latest transfers reflect the Tamil Nadu government’s continuing efforts to deploy experienced officers in key governance positions across transport, tourism, urban development, revenue administration, and district management.
Such periodic reshuffles are considered essential for improving departmental performance, strengthening service delivery, and ensuring efficient implementation of government programmes across the state.
