Ranchi, Jharkhand: In a significant administrative decision, the Jharkhand Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren approved 15 important proposals during its meeting held at the Jharkhand Secretariat. The decisions span infrastructure development, education reforms, healthcare innovation, and policy restructuring.
The details of the cabinet decisions were shared by Additional Chief Secretary (Personnel) Vandana Dadel.
Approval for Two Major Flyover Projects in Ranchi
The Cabinet granted approval for the construction of two major elevated road (flyover) projects under the Jharkhand State Highway Authority.
Harmu–Argora–Dibdih Flyover
A major infrastructure project connecting Harmu Chowk, Argora Chowk, and Dibdih Chowk has been approved with:
- Total length: 3.804 km
- Sanctioned cost: ₹469.62 crore
This project is expected to ease traffic congestion and improve urban mobility in Ranchi.
Karamtoli–Science City–Chiraundi Flyover
Another key flyover project from Karamtoli Chowk to Science City and Chiraundi has also been approved:
- Total length: 3.216 km
- Approved cost: ₹351.14 crore
Both projects aim to strengthen urban infrastructure and reduce travel time in the state capital.
New School Standards Authority Under NEP Framework
In a major education reform, the Cabinet approved the formation of a State School Standards Authority under the School Education and Literacy Department.
This body will function in line with the provisions of the National Education Policy (NEP) and will be responsible for setting standards for schools across Jharkhand.
The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) will act as the State School Standards Authority. It will define benchmarks related to:
- School infrastructure
- Safety standards
- Staffing and teaching quality
This move aims to improve the overall quality and regulation of schools in the state.
₹238 Crore Approved for Centers of Excellence in Palamu
The Cabinet also approved funding for the development of four Centers of Excellence at the Government Engineering College, Palamu.
Focus Areas:
- Civil Construction and Town Planning
- Sustainable and Renewable Energy
- Technology
- Robotics
Investment:
An estimated ₹22.97 crore (approx. ₹238 crore over 5 years as per official planning) has been approved for the next five years to operate these centres.
The initiative is expected to boost technical education and skill development in Jharkhand.
Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test Rules Approved
The Cabinet gave post facto approval to the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JET) Rules, strengthening the framework for teacher recruitment and qualification standards in the state. This decision is aimed at improving the quality of teaching professionals and ensuring better educational outcomes.
Name Change Approved for Vaidyanath Dham Town
The Cabinet approved a minor change in the name of Banshidhar Nagar, which will now be known as Banshidhar Nagar Unchari. The decision is part of administrative restructuring and local identity alignment.
Expansion of Marang Gomke Overseas Scholarship Scheme
In a major boost for higher education, the Cabinet approved an increase in the number of beneficiaries under the Marang Gomke Overseas Scholarship Scheme.
- Number of students increased to 50 beneficiaries
The scheme supports students from Jharkhand pursuing higher education abroad, promoting global exposure and academic excellence.
AI Collaboration in Health Sector with Google
The Cabinet also approved a proposal from the Health Department to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Google for the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare services.
This initiative is expected to enhance:
- Digital health services
- Data-driven decision-making
- Efficiency in public healthcare delivery
Several Departmental Decisions Approved
In addition to the major proposals, the Cabinet also cleared several departmental decisions based on court rulings and administrative requirements across various government departments.
