Ranchi/Dhanbad: In a major administrative exercise aimed at strengthening law and order, the Hemant Soren led Jharkhand government has carried out a large-scale reshuffle in the police department, transferring 46 IPS officers across the state. The reshuffle, notified late Friday night, covers officers from the rank of Additional Director General (ADG) to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP).
The notification was issued by the Department of Home, Prisons, and Disaster Management, Government of Jharkhand, and is being viewed as a strategic move to enhance policing efficiency and administrative coordination.
Key Change: S. Mohammed Yakub, New Rural SP, Dhanbad
One of the most notable changes is in Dhanbad, where 2021 batch IPS officer S. Mohammed Yakub has been appointed as the new Rural Superintendent of Police (SP). Prior to this posting, he was serving as Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) in Hussainabad.
Meanwhile, the outgoing Rural SP of Dhanbad, Kapil Chaudhary, an IPS officer of 2019 batch, has been transferred and appointed as the Superintendent of Police (SP), Palamu.
SPs Replaced in Around a Dozen Districts
In a sweeping move, the government has replaced Superintendents of Police in nearly 12 districts, signaling a major overhaul at the district policing level. Many officers have also been given additional responsibilities alongside their new postings.
