New Delhi: In a significant bureaucratic development, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved central deputation postings for two Indian Police Service (IPS) officers from the Jharkhand and Punjab cadres.
According to official orders, Surendra Kumar Jha and Sandeep Kumar Garg have been appointed to senior positions in central security agencies.
Surendra Kumar Jha Appointed DIG in BSF
Border Security Force has appointed Surendra Kumar Jha as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) on deputation basis.
A 2010-batch IPS officer of the Jharkhand cadre, Jha was serving as DIG (Personnel) at the Jharkhand Police Headquarters in Ranchi prior to his central deputation.
The competent authority approved his appointment under the standard terms and conditions applicable to central deputation assignments.
Sandeep Kumar Garg Posted as DIG in NIA
In a separate order, National Investigation Agency appointed Sandeep Kumar Garg as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) against an existing vacancy.
Garg belongs to the 2012 batch of the Punjab cadre and was serving in the Punjab Police Intelligence Wing as DIG at SAS Nagar (Mohali) before moving to the Centre.
The appointment places him in one of India’s premier counter-terror investigation agencies under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Central Deputation Strengthens National Security Agencies
The appointments come as central security and intelligence agencies continue to strengthen leadership positions through deputation of experienced IPS officers from various state cadres.
Both BSF and NIA play critical roles in India’s internal security architecture, handling border management, counter-terror operations and national security investigations.
